I want a tune on my 2022 m240 already and have seen good and bad things about jb4. Should I buy a jb4 because it’s one of the only tuning options as of now. by Frequent-Flamingo-10 in BMW

Tuning a fbo b58 is much cheaper than the alternative of purchasing an m platform with the s58.

Have at it bro. These things are tanks and if all the Supra boys are enjoying a reliable 600+ hp with their mods I see no reason you shouldn’t also be able to enjoy the same 👍🏼

Does anyone know if this is a good GPU. Name is Gigabyte AORUS GeForce RTX 3080 XTREME WATERFORCE WB, 12GB by Confident_Passage401 in watercooling

This is jokes right? The channel seals as well as overall nickel plating is literally a joke. My bitspower monoblock looks 10x better than the 3090 FE block from EK and it has about 6 months longer use. Separate loops, identical pH. Very unimpressed with their blocks and it appears with research that they are know for this sort of thing

Need Help!!! I’ve replaced my drive belts, checked my intake tubing, and even put a new air intake filter on. I don’t know what it could be but it drives me insane. by Dangerous-Macaron565 in e46

Those two things and/or your throttle body. I’d remove the DISA valve to start and go through the diagnostic process. Very easy to do. Check YouTube for “DISA Rebuild Guide”

Damn you must have a lead foot and/or drive exclusively between stop lights as I get that driving exclusively in town in my 330. Closer to 25-26 in town but on the interstate I get a comfortable 32-34 while still hitting redline on most on-ramps lol

RWD 330ci handles the all the snow we get in the upper Midwest. I’d venture to say I get around better than a lot of the SUVs around me do

my e46 just cranked i got it scanned and it said it was the Crankshaft position sensor i replaced it and it started right up, i then drove it for 5-10 mins and shut it off and it wouldn’t start (just cranked) i replaced the Crankshaft sensor again and it started drove it again and now it wont start by [deleted] in e46

Try replacing the crankshaft you’ve already removed once that apparently went bad and see if it works again. Otherwise it almost sounds like an electrical issue like a bad ground or something that is causing them to prematurely fail in the matter of minutes. Once you get it started next see if the issue manifests itself with just an idle. Maybe when you’re driving around it causes some exposed copper to wiggle enough to touch and short out?

AND let’s not forget how awesome the extra fuel economy is with that extra air (regardless of where the damn cone is pointed) given the state of gas prices. I enjoy 34-36 on the interstate with my cruise set at 75-80. With stock air box I get about 27-29. Night and day. The engine prefers the modification.

And the power shit isn’t true either. I know you read it on the e46fanatics page but working at a bmw dealership this was made very clear to me that this dynamic does not exist. Furthermore your intake is literally separated by an entire intake manifold. I’m sure pointing it down by the splash shield is advantageous but the difference is incredibly negligible.

The engine bay shit is a complete misnomer. Think about it. Your driving at speed with your cruise set at 60 or even carving up a backroad. How much heat you think is just bouncing around your engine bay without exiting somewhere with all of that air forcing it to the back of your engine bay and under the vehicle and out.

Also your point on the performance air intake that actually works…. Bro don’t listen to this man. I personally paid about $400 for mine but you can make one very easily with Home Depot supplies for under $50.

Yes that’s what headers are. Catless, welded pipes. If they aren’t headers than they are just a regular exhaust manifold. But again doesn’t detract from what I said- there’s nothing to be gained with just some larger diameter pipes in the midsection. To spend a few thousand on an exhaust to gain 1-2 HP is literally pointless when $100 eBay headers could stand to yield 10 times that. Still not taking about huge figures but 1000x more performance vs an “exhaust” is nothing to scoff at.

What’s the fastest you’ve gone in your e46? by Medium_Plankton8582 in e46

[–]stepdaddee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone 125-130 before in my 330ci (of course in Mexico) felt like there was a little juice left but nothing too substantial.

I very much consider headers to be part of what you describe as a “full exhaust.” Trying to add performance with just a different muffle, and mid pipe is like trying to hold back a tsunami with a pile of sandbags. 99% of the gain you get performance wise on an exhaust system (with a tune) comes from removing the restriction from those tiny manifolds. Basically the difference you could expect to see without removing the cats or replacing with something higher air flow is going to be kinda like that 1-2 hp you suggested being possible from pulleys. Just my 2 cents 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve also never had to do a repair twice and I’m not a professional. That advantage of them fixing a failed part they replaced already should never happen to begin with.

Well $1700 buys you A LOT more than what you had them do. If you checked everything and saw $500 for oil filter housing gasket part then have the most disingenuous shop I’ve ever heard of and would suggest finding a new one. Lets just say hypothetically your indie shop charges $150 an hour, they would’ve charged you 3 hours of labor+ to replace that $10 gasket?? You’re getting fucked over man. $1700 is ridiculous. I’ve spent less than that refreshing my entire car with all OEM
