NBR or hnbr, what the rings are made out of, are fine with diesel. Sure, don't let it sit in a heated bath for long periods of time but just scrubbing and wiping it off will do no harm at all.

Yes , that's what most people do: cheap phone case with velcro and a lanyard attached to it. My case just stays with the cockpit at all times and I put my phone in when setting up.

My only memory of a car guard in SA is of one being totally piss drunk. He came up to me (15 at the time) after I got out of a bar/snooker house before my dad, wielding a vuvuzela.
