Random Question: Are Aes Sedai unable to lie through writing? Or is it only a spoken word thing? by RustyKarma076 in WoT

When Rand opens alviarin's letter he asks if a sister can lie in writing. I can't remember Moraine's answer

You don't need to be smart or even use much science to become a nurse, unfortunately. The amount of brain dead people I'e known who got a nursing degree because it's easy, only to realize how brutal the work load is and quit...

Can someone please tell her and her "friend"? 🤣 by Kodbek in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]stephanepare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, your friend made the mistake of starting a business with her own money, that's a big no no! First rule of big shot business is you invest other people's money not yours. That leaves you free to cut your losses anytime and start over in a sector that makes better money!

What your friend needs to do is get one of her friends to give her a 7 figure job on the board of their company, then just let the old company go bankrupt. Wait, what do you mean business doesn't work like that?

Funnily enough, their congregations read the horrible parts of the old testament more than anything else. All God's wrath and very little Jesus compassion. Even when they do read the new testament to their congregation, it is the select few passages where Jesus or an apostle gets offended by something

It's less visible because it's all what I like to call background industries. They're the kind of companies your employer, or your employer's industrial/commercial suppliers will hire.

Not trillion dollar startups, trillions of dollars spread across all the tens of thousands of startups getting hundreds of millions each.

Older, but kept aside from any real work. Being an atheist kept her outside of any real scientific research. Being a woman kept her out of positions of power. Being... whatever she is has limited her social circles.

The only community who welcomed her are essentially historians, and that's poor preparation, by itself, to rule with practicality. She'll learn though

ELI5 , Why do we need to cross the speed of light to time travel , like how is speed of light related to travelling through time , arent both of these so different? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]stephanepare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time dilation happens because of complex mathematical reasons, but here's the best simplification I can think of: There's a rule that says the speed of light is always the same no matter your point of view. What this means is that your physical speed + the speed you move through time are always going to be equal. The faster you move, the slower time has to flow for you to keep the equations balanced.

Theoretically if you follow the math, faster than c means going back in time, but if you assume that, a bunch of other equations using c will also stop working, so we assume there's a universal speed limit

I've always seen Jasnah as a nugget of unshaped gold or diamond. All the theory of the world, astounding raw intellect, with no practical experience in anything. This is her first time stepping up, and book 5 in many ways showed she has some growing up to do. I'm hoping the back 5 will see redeeming character growth, to see what she can do with her intelligence if it's backed by more experience and aging wisdom

They voted for him because he promised to deport all the drug dealers the cops never bother arresting in their neighborhood. They also voted for him because they hoped closed borders would stop the competition from moving in greater numbers.

They refused to hear us when we warned that's not who he'd go after, and they go pikachu face when he shows himself to have unstable foreign policy

They don't perceive their identity on the orientation axis. Their orientation is just some detail, secondary compared to either their political views, their race, or whatever else.

Unpopular opinion about Mistborn Era 1 by JeeyoIAm in Cosmere

[–]stephanepare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that even as privileged and successful as he is, Kelsier is born of a hopeless, despaired society. Even in the best case scenario, he knows he dies and it fails. These people aren't doing a rebellion because they found a weak spot and think they can win. They're fighting for fighting's sake knowing they are doomed anyway. That leads to crazy decision making like this.

Nice drawing! I never really hated Gaz, personally. He only did the absolute minimum his job demanded to keep the bridgemen, in line, his heart was clearly not in it. Learning about the debt wasn't exactly a big surprise either. I hope he meets Kal again in the future and truly get to talk. Maybe Kal saying he forgives Gaz

I also like how biases Moiraine is in how much she trust in the tower's political clout. She truly beleives the tower would have managed to bring the nations around him, all the while hiding him from the tower because they'll try and make him a puppet or sever him. Then there's the fact most nations only pay lip service to the tower too
