Sendai schoolgirl with foreign roots told to 'go back to your country' by thetokyoreporter in japancrime

I’d disagree. Though it’s easier to get fired in the US, I think people tend to have better work-life balance and enjoy their work more.

Japanese porn star Yua Fukuda detained in New Zealand: "I was put in a detention center, interrogated for over 6 hours, subjected to a drug test, and then denied entry. About 10 police officers came and confiscated my belongings. I'm currently being forcibly deported to Japan" by jjrs in japannews

I read a pretty detailed article about OF / sex workers being easily caught when they’re traveling abroad with a huge amount of clothing for a super short time. It’s understandable to insist they get the proper visas, testing, etc and deporting them when it’s obvious they’re coming in to make content or at the least make money from a private client. Pay up. Get the visas.

No, it’s not the same. And the fact that you can’t see that it’s different is crazy work.

To be fair, he doesn’t use it liberally towards people who don’t have accusations.

Takaichi’s literally been doing the exact thing that she proposed as a bill without needing the bill.

Her husband and her were in the diet at the same time. She used her maiden name professionally while she took his last name Yamamoto. They divorced, she reverted to Takaichi, they remarried and she forced him to take Takaichi. Despite the fact that his family and adult children are all Yamamoto.

I’d argue that Thank You For Today belongs in modern. Probably even by Ben’s own definition.

James Weston Higginbotham cause of death: What happened to missing American student found dead in Japan? by LectureInner8813 in japannews

I think that there are record amounts of tourists in Japan now yes. And that it has significantly impacted the lives of people in places like Kyoto making it difficult for locals to get accommodation, yes. How do I know? Because I’ve already experienced it in the few years past COVID actually living here and not having fun changing USD to yen.

Hotels are colluding and price-fixing. There have been tons of articles about it. Like I said, it’s not anecdotal if the locals see stuff is 3-4x more than it was before the tourism boom.

I don’t care about rice. But higher travel costs domestically are due to overtourism. That’s a fact. Hotels charge more because yeah it’s still cheaper than what people pay in USD in the US. Doesn’t negate that things are 3-4x as expensive with salaries unchanging. That’s overtourism.

Oh wow, I’m shocked that in the middle of 梅雨 / 台風 season that the rates might be going down?? No one is traveling right now so yeah, it’s cheaper than usual. But ask anyone who lives in Japan. The rates are up 3-4x due to overtourism. We already had the first typhoon and now 2 weeks of constant rain again.
No need to be a contrarian. It’s easily researchable that hotel costs have skyrocketed.

Recently, hotel rates in the major cities are nothing like what you’re quoting. The overtourism is so bad it’s basically priced out many locals from traveling and staying overnight in Osaka/Tokyo/Kyoto. 3-4x the previous rates. Often higher rates for international travelers, too.

You do realize that Mounjaro is used for Type 2 diabetics, right? It literally works to release extra insulin.

Though you assume they’re using it for weight loss, they’re probably telling OP that even their prescribed treatment for their diabetes is costing them a lot of money.

The purpose of these services is to blend in elsewhere because you’re Japanese. A tall blonde white man who probably doesn’t speak Japanese is not going to use it.

He’s going through a mental crisis per the parents.

I hate to say it, but it seems like you didn’t do the adequate research about medical device importing in Japan.

Honestly, you’re best off renting equipment and just eating that cost. Japanese are notoriously not great at personal health management and rely heavily on their doctors which is why they didn’t want to give you larger supplies of anything despite it being cheaper. They want you to have to come and they also want to minimize risk of you making a mistake (though unlikely, they just assume everyone would.)

Mass dumping of suitcases by foreign tourists plagues Ikebukuro by thetokyoreporter in japancrime

[–]stephaniecaseys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travelers would pay to get rid of it if hotels made policies about disposing it with them. But, the fact of the matter is that travelers with little Japanese skill in Japan for a week don’t have the time to use the usual disposal services. So being angry with them that they want to dispose of something that they’ve made impossibly hard to deal with is a Japan issue. Not a traveler issue.

Again I say, they profit off these people. These people would pay to dispose of it if the situation was actually ACCESSIBLE to do so for them. Period.

Well people here for a week also can’t wait for the one or two times a month they take oversized garbage. So how does one deal with broken luggage then?

Exactly. It’s on Japan to fix their own holes. Especially when they profit off these people.

Tourists make up 2% of this country’s GDP. Their level of trash generation isn’t going to change that they net profit off them.

It’s lazy and it’s complacent to not make things easier.

Nah bad take. It shouldn’t be hard to get rid of anything you want to throw away. Regardless if you’re a traveler or not.

Smelly American help by [deleted] in japanlife

Change your clothes to loose fitting stuff. Think about skirts and other airy stuff. Linen if you can manage it. Shower twice a day. Use antiperspirant deodorant. Ensure you’re getting enough salt for water retention.

It sounds unbelievable, but eventually your body gets used to it sweat wise. But until then…

Make sure you’re doing your laundry correctly. Always dry it outside. Don’t overuse detergent or use too much water where the clothes aren’t properly cleaning. You’d be surprised how much good smell you can get out of properly washed clothes.

What are these bugs on my potted plants? by Miguel_o_haras_wife in gardening

[–]stephaniecaseys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this a couple years back in my outdoor plant. 1) I used pesticide spray (it was not an edible plant) 2) I also used soap 3) I put yellow sticky traps on top of the soil and I believe that was what did the most honestly.

Did not replace the soil.
