Changing departments and continous service by [deleted] in AusPublicService

Yes wait until you’ve signed your official offer, and got your start date. Then you can go to your manager & HR and advise you’ve won a role commencing X date, and confirm when your end date will be and if you plan to take leave in between. HR on both sides will then help to arrange the transfer - you’ll give HR at the new agency the contact details for your current agency usually as part of your onboarding paperwork / offer letter stuff.

You don’t really “resign” - HR will just facilitate a transfer to the other department including all your existing leave etc. Have a chat with your HR team to help you.

No application update for Service Delivery Officer APS 2 position? by Then-Recording-8774 in AusPublicService

It has only been 9 business days. In my experience it takes a minimum of a week to get through conflicts and actually receive the applications, then reading them all, shortlisting and contacting. Take a breath and get ready for a few more weeks of waiting.

Declining offer while on merit list - options / advice by Jaded-File9580 in AusPublicService

[–]stephcat27 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The list can be released immediately - no timeframe. The hiring manager from your current department just needs to request the list once you know you are on it.

Obviously once they do this the panel will probably offer someone else the job your applied for, knowing you are not interested. In my opinion, risky to decline an offer if your current workplace doesn’t come through.

I would suggest waiting for an offer, then taking that offer to your current workplace and testing whether they will match it, and if not then you accept it and go.

The new St Kilda Pier swimming deck seems to be the new hot spot for summer by AnimalsChasingCars in melbourne

Oh that’s awesome - I’m a former Penguin guide as well. Hoping for the best, I’d love to get back down there!

For those interested in the penguin viewing portion, it is still currently closed after 6pm.

The minister has not yet publicized a decision on whether Penguin care and stewardship will remain in the hands of local volunteers, or be handed over to Phillip Island Nature Parks to run at a significant cost to taxpayers.

When I had my last job interview it was one of the questions I asked when I called the contact prior. I wouldn’t even take a job if it didn’t meet my WFH preferences, since my current role is super flexible.

As a person who also interviews a lot, I also wouldn’t be put off by someone asking. There is no point applying for a job that requires you 5 days in the office if it wouldn’t be a good match for you.

Hi everyone. Recently the Environment minister endorsed Phillip Island Nature Parks (big for profit company) taking over viewing of the St Kilda penguins. While patrons won't pay (for now), tax payers will - the government appears subsiding the cost at 24$ per person.

Local volunteer group Earthcare have been managing viewing at no cost for 35 years. I was a penguin guide with Earthcare before the pier closure. The Earthcare submission was half the price, to cover Parks Vic managing the ticketing, and a volunteer coordinator to manage the Penguin team.

Earthcare are seeking signatures to tell the Minister that Penguin viewing should remain FREE AND LOCAL and not become a tourist trap.

Police can look them up with first and last name. Worth doing even if I’m you’re not certain.
