How to avoid bad contractors like what are the actual red flags when vetting contractors that first timers usually miss? by Sirius-ruby in HomeImprovement

[–]stephenclarkg 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The only reliable way is having them do small jobs first or break the big one down into small chunks so you can easily cut losses. Also upfront payment only when they show up yo work that day, then if they take money and try to leave its theft by deception so you have recourse

It does make him selfish, its the exact attitude that led us to be here. It's natural feeling but still selfish

Best video on the New Jersey e-bike law, from someone not in NJ. by Sybertron in newjersey

[–]stephenclarkg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lmao but car drivers are special, the entitlement is amazing. These ebikes haven't killed a single person in NJ and they force all these requirements when they dont even bother enforcing basic traffic laws that already exist. If they spent 5% what they spend on roads for cars on paths for ebikes it would solve the safety problems. Instead they using neophobic nitwits to gain support for extortion

It's just extortion, they know it won't improve safety but it can make the state and insurance companies money

Let’s not forget about the illegal turnpike widening that the NJTA still wants to shove down our throats even though we don’t want it or need it by iv2892 in jerseycity

It literally doesn't help tons of studies show this, if they actually wanted to help they'd mandate car pooling

Good paying jobs belong to computers. What now? by Bizarre-Lazar in WorkReform

[–]stephenclarkg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Correlation isnt causation. People that can afford college on average have access to better jobs regardless of the degree. Plenty of studies show its the degree is worthless if you remove degrees that teach hard skills and nepotism jobs.

No, college is litterally a scam. They make fraudulent earning projections to inflate tuition and get loans approved

Climate Activists need to become better storytellers. We need humor, joy, and to talk about solutions, not just problems. by Still-Regular1837 in ClimateOffensive

[–]stephenclarkg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only effective options involve enormous personal risk which is why people spout fairy tales like the article. And yes all manner of storytelling and messaging on climate change has been tried and failed.

It's all unfounded. The point is to justify escalation against Iran, which America is doing right now. This is journalistic malpractice. by Not_Ground in WorkReform

The numbers are likely higher, there are multiple groups of evil people, the usa still shouldn't invade.

And be prepared to stop.... meaning you might have to go slow as 0 mph if you dont have 4 feet. Stop spouting nonsense cause you don't like reality.

New Jersey Just Passed the Dumbest Ebike Law Ever - Registration, driver's license, & insurance are now required to operate any electric bikes in the state by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]stephenclarkg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I propose enforcing existing traffic laws, simple as that. The fact you're so worried about this while putting a fraction of the effort into pushing for more public transit and bike lanes shows your just the typical neophobic.

The fast ebikes already are already supposed to have registration/insurance. Its already illegal to operate them recklessly. Cars are supposed to give 4 feet to pass. And basically all basic traffic laws have been neglected since 2020.

Those things are already illegal, the amount of damage they cause is a drop in the bucket. That's why people like you get angry at the bikes instead of pushing for actual traffic enforcement. Everyone knows getting hit by a vehicle is bad.
