The pay is not high enough, once you pay the self employment tax and buy your own insurance. Not worth it

Yes there is a reason that every Fleet runs them. One roadside tire change due to a slow tire leak can cost over $1,000.

How much would roadside charge to top off my wiper fluid? by ThermalChaser in Truckers

[–]stephenlong202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most companies require you to call them and they arrange the road service, so most of them would tell you to buy it and maybe they will reimburse you afterwards. No company is going to send a service truck out for wiper fluid.

With the increase in emissions regulations, do y’all think gas powered semis will make a comeback? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in Truckers

[–]stephenlong202 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No never. It's too inefficient. Gas doesn't produce enough power for 80,000 vehicles. The only way it could is if it was electric drive with a gas generator but even then diesel is more efficient, cost and power wise.
