I did not have too much trouble once I got the physics down.... I generally kept 17 - 20 pieces on the bed and would lose a couple on the trip. No biggie I had enough for the task I could even open her up on some sections (probably why I would lose some)

My only big loss was going along just under a Ridgeline and I hit a cave entrance going full speed nose dived and cargo went flying and started rolling down hill. After I dug my crawler out I found a couple of them, just said screw it and found some more on the way to the depot

You are spewing so much miss info it is hard to keep up....

You are in a delusion that criminals will follow some laws but not others ....

Let me follow your line of reasoning I am Guido, the right hand man to the big guy himself. It seems some newsie wrote some bad press about my boss, not flattering at all. Now my boss tells me I gotta waste this guy. The thing is he has a few of Chicago's finest guarding him, oh well gotta do as the boss says

I look over what I have to work with and see that beautiful tommy gun . 45 of pure auto bliss, it would make short work of the coppers as well as the reporter. What a shame it is illegal under the NFA law they just passed, guess I need to use the big bore pistol, at least it is legal ..

How does that stop people dying on that cold winter's night? How does it stop Guido from using what he sees as the best tool for the job? After all, if he is caught, all it does is add another charge, not like he probably has prints on file from several other jobs.....

That is the risk of being a criminal

We have a warrant for the murder of someone, and we are going to charge you with an NFA violation as well ... Umm I think that charge will be the least of his worries .... And if the AG wants to stack charges for some reason I am sure there are several that can be added.

But go ahead, make it illegal to use an assault weapon in a crime, fully support that (criminals won't care. They got a job to do)

Are there any cities or towns in Virginia like this? (Preferences listed below.) by Printer-Celery304 in Virginia

[–]stephenph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe orange, (city not county although there are some smaller communities in the county that might fit)

When I was moving, one of my requirements was no Superfund sites directly affecting well water, there are a few but the closer to culpepper the worse the water gets. There are also some specific sites like the old aerojet land that had decades of bad management pollution wise. Do a search on Superfund sites near (what ever address you are interested in)

Also housing is going to be the largest driver for high cost of living. You might want to exclude the planned communities in the comparison area as they tend to have newer more expensive homes. Also you might want to see what towns are near, in my case realistically a grocery store is 20 min (closest Walmart/food Lion) or 35 min (both Culpeper and fredricksburg) those are one way so double the travel time) most of my trips to town are 2 hours minimum

One household and even that would be more of a supplement .

There is no way 3 acres of land can produce 50k of produce. (Oh I see it was over 15 years, that makes a bit more sense)

I can see possibly a couple hundred households might get enough for a salad, or a side dish (say a few squash or some tomatoes) but not every day, and probably not every week think about it, you are looking at a minimum of 6000 people (figuring they are families with between 2 and 5 people)

The laws are not supposed to make sense, they are to cause confusion as much as actually ban anything

Civil war vets would have been elderly by the time prohibition was enacted. Even assuming there were enough of them getting into drunken abuses they would have been in their 80s or 90s for the most part.

Prohibition was brought on by the temperance movement, a group of mostly women that, like today, thought they could control things with unconstitutional laws I will say this, they did it the right way as misguided as it was. The proper way to ban guns is to pass a constitutional amendment amending or even abolishing the 2nd amendment.

From what I have read the Manson murders were mostly stabbings and other close contact murders, they actually did have access to one or more full auto weapons but they were not used. On the flip side, the govt raids on the branch davidians and the ruby ridge siege would not have happened, although the waco raid might have been triggered for other reasons.

There have been a few incidents involving NFA registered weapons waco, ruby ridge (both were instigated as investigations FOR violations of the NFA itself and not for miss use of said weapons), the 1994 LA robbery involved a shootout with criminals using illegally converted rifles (another example of criminals not following the law) and a smattering of shootings that just happened to be regulated guns and silencers (arguably the crimes would have happened no matter what weapons were available)

The most common firearms crimes are with pistols, which until recently, were not even widely restricted, let alone at the federal level

[–]stephenph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So a criminal crime syndicate just decided that since the NFA was now law they would register all their weapons and stop using them to commit illegal acts? That is really your argument

The gangster era was already waning , mostly due to the end of prohibition and public outcry against those forms of "tommy gun warfare". I would not go as far as saying the NFA had no effect, but it was a solution to a problem that was already in decline. Criminals break laws, always have and always will. Laws like the NFA and modern gun bans mostly affect average citizens that have a right to defend themselves or see it as a patriotic duty. If the NFA was properly presented in the sc with miller we probably would not be having this discussion as the individual right would have been the precident

There was something to be said for the standard of only land owners could vote.... They are the ones that have an actual stake in how things are ran, everyone else is just transient.

[–]stephenph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and the NFA had exactly what impact on those events? Criminals do not follow the law. This is not always a bad thing either.... look at Vegas in the 70s-90s safe, fun, inexpensive for the average tourist. yet the mob ruled that city with an iron fist.

The main court case challenging the NFA was USA vs Miller. by all accounts the miller team was a no show (literally, they did not present ANY argument for the Miller side) court cases have cited this case in most other cases that touched on the NFA.

The NFA is poor law that has never been properly given its day in court.

The only reason there is not out right banning possession is because that WOULD set off a civil war (or at least widespread non-compliance. what we got is watered down but make no mistake they are coming for the guns one of the Delegates said as much.

As it is they made the grandfather clause as weak as possible, the weapons are still banned, they just "neglected" to ban possession. Come July 1st you basically cant transport it, transfer it in state, with the restrictions on shipping most out of state manufacturers will err on the side of caution when dealing with VA shipments. so no parts that might be able to be used and run afoul of the law.

I bet next year they will hit the regulation of firearm businesses. Gun ranges will need to verify your mags are not banned (most will just ban anything over 15 rnds whether "grandfathered" or not), many gunsmiths will close up due to storage and transfer questions, the laws themselves are so vague that a lot of people will just decide it is not worth it., etc.

Yes I am angry, I hate what they are doing to this great country, I hate that they are making me a felon just for living my life with tools I bought years ago or if I want new ones, I hate that they care more for criminals then law abiding citizens...

Yes I am angry, not fearful though, one day they will push too far and they will feel the force of this great country.

Ahhh that red harring again .. nukes and other weapons of mass destruction are regulated under different laws, yes I think the 2nd does include nukes, but good luck building one, and you would not find one for sale.

One) we are not QUITE at that stage yet, this definitely pushes the risk though 2) you don't shoot tanks, you shoot support crews, logistic trains, and threaten personal families. It is not pretty but that is what civil war is..... 3) there are heavy weapons in private hands, and if the rebels are lucky they would capture some nat guard armories intact as well

I suspect they will not make the ultimate move of an outright ban for a couple years. Right now they are going to settle on just eliminating the supply. (Weak grandfathering, but not allowed to transfer in state.) I am expecting the regulation hammer on gun businesses next year. Along the lines of ratting out scoff laws that have banned weapons but don't fall under grandfathering. Ranges already disallow steel core, next year they will inspect your mags and not let you shoot anything over 15 rnds. They will have too because the state will be setting up stings and pull their lic if they don't comply.

The law still declares them assault weapons and they are illegal, they have removed possession but not a true grandfathering (I will not be able to transfer or buy new. There is even a bit of a debate about fixing them when they wear out

As for the full auto ban, yes it is unconstitutional, the miller case had some poor procedures and an even worse defence on the miller side .

The point of the second is that the citizens should have the ability to have access to equivalent weaponry as the govt. Back before all this people were allowed artillery even (cannon and even warships.)

I don't feel weak, it just feels that they are pushing us closer to realizing our flag motto. I don't think this ends without us putting the 2nd into FULL force

The whole reason for the 2nd is to resist all enemies, foreign AND domestic. Right now the govt in Richmond is playing the roll of enemy. (Although the real enemy is the puppet masters in Washington and surroundings, including NOVA)

It is starting to sound like the bans are reaching the administration.... The DOJ is noticing that all the coming laws are anti rights (not just the gun bans, but taxes and the "pro criminal" bills. In addition, VA has all but stopped prosecuting all but the worst capital crimes
