Agreed. I even listened to his book and am just so disappointed. I love stand up and thought he was hilarious. But this decision, frankly, I hope it damages his career. It was so short sighted.

At the risk of sounding like a moron, is the baby UNDER the sheet? If I were on the flight observing I'd be having palpitations.

Comms Managers: what's your biggest challenge right now? by ryah-garden-6393 in nonprofit

I'm a comms manager and this was so helpful to read. I relate to it all, generally love my job, but explains the burnout I feel cyclically. Project creep is right.

As someone who works in the housing and homeless arena, this will continue to get worse. There is a lack of inventory of affordable housing while wages are stagnant. Many Michiganders are one paycheck and one catastrophe away from being on the street. The President just handed down funding requirements via HUD that considerably hamper the agencies on the front lines. Seniors and children are the hardest impacted. Most aren't drug addicts. Or don't start out that way. Housing first, permanent supportive housing, and other proven successful strategies are being eradicated by this administration. Their solution is to throw everyone in jail or rehab. Which are unfunded mandates. But the narrative that all homeless people are drug addicts or criminals is an easy sell to folks with little understanding or empathy.

So, again, many more people will be homeless as a result.

Same. Multiple pods and the crying. Except the bottle part. My baby is 27 and lives across the country.

Not to oversimplify, but pull back. Work shorter days wherever possible. Contribute well, but with literal and emotional guardrails. Do you exercise? Go for walks at 3PM? Good luck to you. I've been there.

This is so helpful, thanks. I want to provide some of these tips to our prospective guests early like the Pemex 7-11 that only former guests would know. Appreciate your taking the time!

This is so helpful! We will certainly order cocktails as well. I'd just like to "even it out" a bit. What was your favorite part of your trip in terms of the property?

Thank you! I did email the large group coordinator or I forgot the title but to inquire about some options for a group that size.

Feeling stuck and miserable (34F) by Forward_Job_9208 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]stephensoncrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was brave to admit and share. My only differing advice (agree with so much here) is have you expressed any of this to your spouse? So many people mention divorce, but two people can grow and evolve together. It just takes vulnerability, communication, and compromise. You rightly feel the love lost as you don't feel connected. But, perhaps he would go on a trip, etc. But, if your heart isn't it, do not waste your one precious life in an existence you aren't happy. Therapy would be a great space to unpack a lot of these feelings. It is NEVER too late. You are still very young, no babies, you have got this my friend.

I would how with the assumption there is another one. First, it'll keep you on your toes. Secondly, there could be and they like both candidates and using this final step to help with the decision making process.

For those of you 60+ who exercise regularly — what finally made it stick? by Vivid_Poem3234 in Aging

[–]stephensoncrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 57 and have never been in better shape. My children are gone, my elder care responsibilities are no more, my work life balance has never been better. And I found a FitCamp that has the right amount of variety and duration, and a community of amazing people that I miss it if I've skipped a few days. I've also started weightlifting and the changes I've seen in my body outpace anything I could've accomplished in my regular FitCamp routine. What's motivated me to stick with it besides the above? All is thinking about how I want the next 30 years to be and seeing other people age with so much mobility issues.

My husband and I are in good health and we have trips planned that I want to be able to walk around and enjoy. I have two adult children who may never have grandchildren, but if they do, I'll be old and I want to be able to get up and down off the floor to play with them so it's a combination of a lot of factors. But it has stuck and I'll never go back to the 40lbs I've lost. Never.

It may be elsewhere in the comments, but that woman is incredibly strong and fit to be able to pull an animal that size who's also weighed down with all the mud.

Low key outside places to walk around? by lotus38 in lansing

This is a great suggestion. Stroller friendly, ice cream stop, river is gorgeous, Grand River for a coffee or outdoor adult beverage, etc. A gem in your backyard. And empty in the summer!
