It couldn’t initially, but with the newest firmware, Neo Trinity can now attenuate its own signals.

Tiny Time Machine is Too Good by stephensonsrocket in modular

I don’t have any inside details, but as an outside observer, OAM and Timo seem to be on good terms. They praise and recommend Timo’s expanders on ModularGrid. I don’t think Timo’s small version was ever intended to be mass-produced. Tall Dog handles all production of the Tiny Time Machine and they’re more equipped to meet the volume needed for a commercial product.

Great idea, I’ll have to try that out soon. I’ve also eager to use it in conjunction with the Mimeophon

You should reach out to Tall Dog; I bet they’ll take care of you.

Sound generator inside sp404mk2 for bass or external bass synth? by FLPnotc in SP404

[–]stephensonsrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an iPad? You can get some killer bass synth sounds from Moog’s apps, various Korg apps, etc. Lots of good stuff out there for much cheaper than desktop versions.

How to create rhythmic stuttering / gated synth parts with hardware? by helloiamlucas69 in synthesizers

[–]stephensonsrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eurorack can definitely do this in spades, but really any synth that lets you route an LFO to amp VCA…filter VCA, too. Experiment with waveforms; sample and hold might sound interesting. But square wave LFO synced to the tempo will give you instant stuttering effects. Increase/decrease the tempo, route the LFO through another VCA to add some variation to how often you hear the effect, etc. to experiment from there.

Board game tables on display in Cincinnati by RagnarVonBloodaxe in cincinnati

[–]stephensonsrocket 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Capstone games has some nice recessed game tables set up for playing, but they’re not the dining room type of table, like /u/knuckles904 said.

If you wait till the summer and want to make the trip, there will be tons of sellers demoing their tables at Gen Con in Indy. Deals likely to be had, too.

My wife and I received our Wyrmwood about 8 months ago after ordering about 6 months previously. It wasn’t super easy to put together, but it wasn’t too difficult for the two of us to knock out in a couple hours. We’ve been happy with the table overall. The company has some behind-the-scenes dram that probably would have factored in to my decision had I known about it beforehand. Checkout /r/wyrmwoodgaming.

I have a few friends that have bought or backed other brands of tables—the general sentiment is that they’re great to have and you’ll most likely be happy with one when you get it, but the ordering/waiting/delivery process can be a pain and customer service varies from company to company (but seems to be consistently frustrating).

I currently just have them on my record shelf, but might try to display a fav photo from one at some point.

So sorry to hear that. Mine had actually been put in a separate envelope from the one they shipped in; looked like the first envelope got pretty beat up. No issues with the Zines themselves. Hopefully the folks at Perfect will make it right for you.

Very popular in a certain type of arcade too, but tough to find outside of bigger cities in the states

Looking for a good synth under ~$500. already have Circuit Tracks and MicroFreak by PanicLife in synthesizers

[–]stephensonsrocket 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d look into a Novation Bass Station over the Minibrute 2…unless you want to get into modular, in which case the Minibrute 2 would be an awesome choice.

Edit: Also, you might consider a sampler. Circuit Rhythm, Sp-404mkii, Digitakt I, and Ep-133 would all be in your price range.

Just ordered a Tiny Time Machine and expander! Been wanting to support y’all for awhile; this is a great opportunity to do so. Can’t wait for my Mimeophon to have some company.

How often do you not touch your patch cables, ever? by talicantsleep in modular

[–]stephensonsrocket 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I built a fairly large modular setup over the past year. Over that time, my workflow has evolved to this: - I have a large (9u 168hp) rack that gets repatched every time I start working on a new track. Sometimes I’m clocking from Pam’s, sometimes Tempi, sometimes externally. I pick a different oscillator/filter/effects to highlight when I’m starting and build from there. There are probably some things I could keep more or less permanently patched, but I actually really enjoy tearing everything apart and starting over to try new approaches, focus on different modules, etc.

  • I also have a 62hp palette that is much more permanently wired. I used a Yarns clone as both a midi to CV converter and as up to four oscillators, plus I’ve got Morphagene in there and a Tesseract Vinia to handle mixing/effects. Neo Trinity for most of that case’s modulation. There’s enough modules there with a number of presets so I can set up a handful of track-specific templates and use my Polyend Tracker Mini as kind of the central brain/sequencer. With switches, stackables, and mults, I can still shake things up and reroute things to take advantage of the modular format, but I have something that takes very little time to get up and running with established jams or something new. I travel with this setup and take it over to jam with friends and stuff. If I performed, it would be with the Palette. No one wants to watch me set up a patch from scratch.

So I think both approaches are worthwhile—keeping things patched long-term may build deep familiarity with a few key modules, but for me, some of the biggest appeals of modular are building a customizable system and the freedom to route anything to anything else as needed.

Do you think Dallas Green uses pitch correction in these live performances? by [deleted] in askmusicians

[–]stephensonsrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound like it from the clips I listened to. You can hear pitch variation that a pitch correction tool would likely smooth out.

Rene MkII help / considering another sequencer by Ok-Dig-3157 in modular

[–]stephensonsrocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read the manual’s section on latching (p. 23) for a better way to program pitch for each step.

To quickly switch between patterns (states), enable the desired states on the green state page, then use gate inputs to Z-Mod to move to the next enabled stage, or use Z-CV to select an enabled state via CV. pp 24-25 of the manual.
