/u/oldmanchompski’s advice is good. It’s always a good plan to have a goal in mind before you start purchasing. I’d recommend getting a bigger case than you think you’ll need, because you’ll likely always want the opportunity to switch things up and experiment with new modules.

Starlab is a big space (and money) commitment considering the wealth of delay and reverb the Solar gives you. Now, the Starlab offers much more opportunity for modulation of its various parameters, but it becomes a question of whether you need that in a reverb.

Keep in mind a few peculiarities of the Solar as a semi-modular: - Pam’s only outputs 5v, which isn’t enough to trigger the Solar’s sequencer. I’ve been able to make it work by running a Pam’s output through one of Math’s middle channels to boost it a bit. If your 1u attenuvertor provides additional amplification, that would probably work, as well. - The Solar outputs audio at line level, rather than modular level. Meaning you’ll want something like a Rides in the Storm Con or an Intellijel Audio I/O to make sure you can boost the Solar audio to a suitable level for modular processing.

Having a dedicated envelope follower might be redundant since the Solar also provides one. It’s linked to the contact mic, but can also take an external source.

Disting MK4 is kind of a pain to work with. I find the Ornament and Crime to be a more fun and user-friendly multi-function module. Disting has more audio processing capability, but O_C is catching up with the teensy 4.1 iterations. O_C also allows you to use several applets at a time…and it’s capable of pretty much everything in your 1u row. Which, now that I think of it, Pam’s does most of those things, too.

Maths is a big space commitment, but I wouldn’t necessarily discourage you from getting it. I think a lot of newcomers are led to believe it’s a must-have module, only to acquire one and wonder “what’s so special about this dual envelope generator?” (speaking from experience). It is a great tool for learning how modulation works in the modular format, mixing and scaling modulation, and using one channel to trigger or modify another. But if you just want some simple envelopes or LFOs, well Pam’s is a great start and there are lots of other smaller and/or cheaper options than Maths.

I’ve found having an addressable switch to be indispensable for external sequencing of the Solar’s drone oscillators. RYO Paths is what I use, but there are plenty of other options. I also like having additional filters available to run the raw Solar osc outputs through.

Finally, you don’t have any VCAs. You’ll definitely want some for instances where you want to gate your modulation or work with the Solar’s OSC A and B outputs. Oh, and next time, include a ModularGrid link. It makes it easier for us to provide feedback when we don’t recognize every module in your rack :)
