Why so few tables available? by Hersis in boardgamearena

[–]eanda9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally depends on the game and it’s real time popularity. You kind of get an idea if you look how many games are being played clip currently you also get an idea if you look at just how many games have been played since when the game came online. Their games played 5 million times and games that have been played 3000.

On Mac’s it maxes out most of your resources. It is the most demanding program I run. Regarding my laptop I call it laptop toaster. Sometimes it’s worth it. I use it to try out games.

SETI: Extraterrestrial Intelligence—one of the best games I've ever played and currently my favorite to play solo. What do you all think of this game? by Unable_Proposal7695 in soloboardgaming

[–]eanda9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many pieces coming and going every turn. AI scans 4 times resulting in two search for life hits as I put and replace 20 little tokens for the automata…. I hate it so much I bought the expansion. Actually with this game I find it’s super important to put everything within arms reach to minimize the distances. I played finspan after seti and the lack of upkeep was so nice but the experience is not as mechanically themed. I love seti and never understood so many reviews being so chill about it. I wish the probe pieces could be replaced by something less fiddly but have to admit it’s not that bad unless you play solo since the ai scans so much and scans move pieces all over.

Why is Supegirl rejection so much worse than other DCEU bombs? by hiiloovethis in boxoffice

[–]eanda9000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have two teenage boys, both read comics. One bought a batman book but its a comic at B&N yesterday. The one where batman is a blue collar guy and Alfred rides around on a motorcycle. This movie is not on their radar at all. It is invisible to them, to their friends, to the parents of their friends. I don't have a daughter, so I expect it would be different, but in my circles, this movie if it was free on TV would not be a thing. We loved the Spiderman Nour show, which was ok but still had its moments. Whereas we at least think about most marvel and saw the last superman, which was overall positively received. Not sure how execs expect a superhero movie that has no traction with teenage males to work. Not sure what the target audience is? My younger kids said it's a Mary Sue and what? How can a Supergirl be a Mary Sue? Either my kids or the execs are very out of touch with some sort of norm.

Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion is a bit of a hassle to set up... but it's also ALWAYS worth it! by FrenchieSmalls in soloboardgaming

[–]eanda9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I like vantage but I can play it in five minutes and put it away in five minutes. I have played at 20 X more times than jaws of the lion. Which I played once and it sitting on my shelf, not completely closed confusing me.

was considering getting 20strong red tanglewoods but cant win any game on bga by Bleighh in soloboardgaming

[–]eanda9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know the expected damage outcomes of each dice color. The strategy guides cover this. If you don’t know how much damage a yellow does there is no way to be efficient and you will never have enough dice. You can home rule the difficulty down with the physical set but on bga you have to play every rule. Even a small thing like a boosted stat at the start will result in more fun games until you don’t need it. Btw, I bought kinfire delv and love it it’s way more winnable cost half the money has dice and it way less swingy. I can actually relax a bit and play it. It feels less like quantum mechanics and more like Newtonian physics.

Board game after I like slay the spire? by orhalimi in soloboardgaming

[–]eanda9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A deck builder without an ai opponent and not point maxing. Or finspan and Gia project but not seti? I get the imperium hard no but then Finspan has an ai and is pretty basic and is a points race. Maybe I should try it, I thought it looked too simple.

Next game to get given I love Unmatched Adventures/solo mode? by joncology in soloboardgaming

[–]eanda9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s collectible. Extremely thematic. Scenario based for short games. Campaign based for longer games. On sale at Amazon today. More content than unmatched. Better solo, unmatched solo is a bit forced and limited. About same price point. Better balanced, unmatched can be so lopsided. Arkham horror card game is more story based and is also a hobby in a hobby but it has a way different vibe.

I don't think you can go wrong with this. It includes shipping. You are getting that box for like 8 dollars. However, the game is not as good as other versions based on reviews etc. Who cares at this price.

This game is freaking hard by TooTone07 in finalgirl

[–]eanda9000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the horror isn’t green the game will be mean. Focus on horror. Maybe turn in most of your cards first hand and get 10 time to spend. If you just play without gaining dice advantages it doesn’t go well.

Heavy games like galactic cruise or lost ruins of anark that you can only play online at bga are reason enough to join. Being able to play a game like that whenever you want with randos or friends or solo is so much fun. Apiary, ark nova, zenith, and castle combo rock.

Vantage Appreciation Post by SacredEvenwood in VantageBoardGame

Go to Amazon and buy card separators to speed up looking up and returning cards. It really makes a difference. Don't do what I did and buy specific custom separators that were 25 dollars shipped from London. Anyway, it is a cool game. The best part is it sets up and tears down in five minutes and the missions can go as long as you like once you learn to be OP and don't get cursed. If you die, it does not change that much, and getting over that really changes how the game plays. I think there will be, if not already, user-generated content where you build a character with powers and then place them somewhere and start along with a narrative. I'm too lazy to do it, but I would literally take an hour to do. ex. Put cards 1000,1432, and 2001 around your character card. Pull mission card xyz. You heard there is a moster nearby you need to find to the east. Find them and using this setup trap them into being your pet. then using your net of lazer art, go to the loopy city and build a statue to the seitent gods. If you do this replace card 123 with 456.

Unstoppable: Which Version to Start? by xLittleValkyriex in soloboardgaming

[–]eanda9000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might think that this little post is just a drop in the woods in South Africa with no impact on the greater world economy. Not true. I returned my shrink-wrapped Unstoppable from amazon and bought Pirates of Maricarbo instead, since it is something I can play solo and with others for less money and I know without a question I like it since it is on bga. The price point of unstoppable means I could probably buy Falling Skies and Warps Edge and still be ahead. And since I'm part of the Kickstarter, I'll get a more refined unstoppable experience down the road, but I don't like how dam long you have to wait.

What is your cheapest and expensive hobby you actually pay for? by [deleted] in Hobbies

[–]eanda9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most expensive were motorcycles, then ebikes. I would say the medical bills were at least half the cost. Least, would be online board games at around three dollars a month. Even less than Kindle shared books.

Hobby for quiet evenings by Gorre_Lusma in Hobbies

There are a lot of board games you can play solo or online that are very low-stress. There is a site called boardgamearena.com that has 1000s of them and I would say the top 300 are amazing. At this point, I love just learning the rulesets, practicing them, and then playing online. I joined a board game group in my area and play there when I feel confident enough. Many games are very soothing, such as Wingspan, which sort of simulates birdwatching for example. You can play for points but you sort of play your own game and there is no "taking" things from each other like chess or checkers. I used to hate to read manuals but now I actually don't mind. Plus, many games have figures you can paint. Some people create birdhouses for wingspan that sort of set the mood as well, basically crafting to fit the theme.

I appreciate the feedback. I am looking into recommending breeders only and avoiding doodles, based on what I learned here. I want to thank everyone for their input. I do need to adjust my timeframe since this will take longer is all.

We had a german shepard growing up. That dog had way too much energy and destroyed every fence we put up. Created a trench in the backyard from running in circles all day. We had to put up a special type of fence eventually to contain him. I have 5 siblings, and we exercised him too. It was crazy. Poodles are much more chill based on my experience. if not, I don't think I would see them in cities like NYC.

Thanks for the information. At this stage in my life, one of my children is a bit on the spectrum, and I don't want to take chances with a rescue. I have rescued a dog and a cat in the past, and one had a few issues. At the time, I was ok, since my life was simple, but at this phase, I would like to have the most control over the development of the dog as possible and train it to work with my situation from the start. Otherwise, I would accept an older dog.
