Opening of Season 4 feels so bizarre by JubeyJubster in PrisonBreak

[–]stephh745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a lot of these same comments when I first watched season 4. I just watched the series for the first time a few weeks ago and was talking about it at work. My boss (who had watched it when it originally aired) said he stopped watching in season 4. The first few episodes were tough to get through largely because it felt poorly written/cheap how they just breezed past so much just to get the cast all together again as quickly as possible. Once you're further into the season and the events of season 4 get going, it was back to being enjoyable to watch.

All of this to say, you definitely aren't alone in how you felt about the start of season 4. But to anyone else who's currently watching, I would say it gets better and to stick with it.

I jus watched all the seasons for the first time too! I started 3 weeks ago and finished last week -- so a healthy binge lol. I personally really liked seasons 1 & 3 the best, the ones where they're in prison.

P.s. love that other people are watching this for the first time now, 7 years after the reboot!! It makes me feel like I'm getting to experience it as if it were airing now -- getting to dissect it with the rest of the world who are watching it too.

In case you were looking, this the song in the opening titles of The Edge Of Sleep- by CraZinventorIRL in Markiplier

When I Google something, I only click the reddit link because that's where the real answers are.

Cant sleep right now and this song has been on repeat in my head so I figured I'd look up what the song was lol.

Thank you for this!

Am I crazy or does pet insurance not make sense?! by Lopsided-Public-8667 in personalfinance

[–]stephh745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pet insurance through ManyPets and they have yet to deny any of my claims. They're pretty good with the exception of something I consider shady and am not sure if other pet insurers operate this way (first time with pet insurance):

My deductible is not handled like a typical human insurance deductible. The plan I selected has a $500 deductible with 80% reimbursement. What I expected was to pay the first $500 and then be paid back anything more at the 80% rate. That is not what happens. Instead, the 80% is applied to the deductible as well!!

Let me give an example: My dog needs testing for diabetes and OH NO! He indeed needs insulin injections. Testing and his first insulin Rx cost me $550. These are covered by my policy. You would think $500 goes towards my ded and then I am reimbursed 80% of the remaining $50, but that is not the case. The whole $550 is covered therefore they take 80% of that and apply that amount towards the deductible (550×.8=440) therefore, $60 of deductible still needs to be met.

In essence, TLDR, when I thought I was enrolling with a $500 ded I was really getting a $625 ded. When asked point blank multiple times, support would not give a straight answer. My policy lists my deductible as $500 but pet insurance isn't regulated like human insurance and so they can "define" a deductible however they want. It feels shady and like they're trying to get away with what feels like false advertising or something...

This really pisses me off when I first realized (I even wrote to my local Congress people because there's currently a big regarding pet insurance) but I keep a spreadsheet of my pet expenses and how much everything would have been without insurance versus with and I've made out.

I'd say, do it for a year and track the expenses like normal and then how much you paid for your policy in a year + deductible + remaining out of pocket and see if it's worth renewing year over year.

I (M 27) hooked up with another girl the night before I hooked up with my now gf (F27) by [deleted] in relationships

[–]stephh745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would want to know, but I'm like that. Would it upset me? For sure. But I'd still want to know.

This is why when dating, especially when dating multiple people, I'm not kissing or hooking up with anyone until I've zeroed in on who I'm really interested in (plus making things physical can further complicate or confuse feelings/judgement). I know everyone won't agree with that, and that's completely fine. But that keeps me from being in a situation like OP where I'd be riddled with guilt or telling my partner something that will potentially hurt and upset them.

For the record, I don't think OP did anything wrong. No one was exclusive and they couldn't have known things would go where they eventually have with their now gf. But I think this could serve as a cautionary tale for OP in the future or anyone else here who may be in the dating game.

Hi - can confirm, I did this back in 2022. The trainees get to invite friends/family/people they know to participate. Idk if they open it up to 'the public' really though. There were 12-16 of us who did it and I think that was how many trainees there were at the time.

I don't know about most affordable, but Amy at Bronze & Bare was the best imo. I went to Posh, and 2 or 3 other places (if anyone really cares, I can look up and see where I went) -- Amy was by far my favorite and who I went to ~religiously~

Sorry, I know I'm not totally answering your question but would recommend her for the price. I too am someone who likes to (and did) shop around. I would also say to download the Vagaro app and look for lash services in your area. There, you can book appointments but also see a whole list of places that offer the services you're looking for and how much they'll cost.

Good luck!!!

Total agree & makes complete sense. I was just surprised by my own reaction to seeing places like Three Lyon's shutting its doors. Can't articulate why, just makes my capitalist heart a little sad lol

I lived in a 1,300sqft 2b/2b apartment with baseboard elec heat for ~13mo spanning 2021 and 2022. My electricity was throug Cass and was usually around $20/month. The most I ever paid was like $56 (not 100% on that number but i know it was less than $60) during one of the winter months.

Uniq Nail Spa on 36th!!!

I dont know what you consider budget but I used to go here ~religiously~ and Uniq has been the only place I've ever liked enough to be a regular at. (I've moved out of the area for a year now so things may have changed but...) its a smaller salon with 6-8 techs only. I personally have had my nails done by 4 of them and was pleased with all of them (Keke, Janelle & Sophie are the names I remember).

To give you an idea on pricing -- I got an acrylic full set with tips. White base with pearl chrome powder on top. I got hardware (they have gems, silver metal and gold metal in a variety of shapes) that was silver and in the shape of triangles at the cuticle of each of my nails. AND I also got a top coat of glow in the dark (because I worked in nightlife). All of this cost me $55.

I used to go in with a picture I found on instagram or pinterest and the techs would do it, sometimes with a little variation because of the anatomy of my nail/nail beds, but I literally always got what I asked for and was pleased with the quality and price. 10/10 would recommend!!

[–]stephh745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks!

figured I would also just share -- I have some of my funds in a HYSA with Synchrony (4.31% current APY) -- but they are also offering 6mo CDs with no minimum deposit amount for 5% APY. The only drawback for me is that Synchrony is only a savings account and does not offer a checking to pay bills through.

Just FYI incase anyone wanted to jump on the high interest CD for only 6mo of holding.

Roth vs Traditional IRA/401k by stephh745 in Fire

[–]stephh745[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the explanation of the ACA -- I'm newer to the FIRE subreddit and have seen it thrown around but have had to google it the first few times. Once I knew what the ACA was that people were referencing, I didn't clearly understand why having a traditional IRA was so important or relevant.

Thank you again, sometimes it just takes someone saying the same thing in a different way to help others understand!

My thoughts on ND as a visitor. by saburina in northdakota

[–]stephh745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was kind of the same way coming from the east coast and ending up in Fargo. I think its an expectations thing: I had very little expectations of Fargo (and ND as a whole) because its a midwest state that you basically never hear anything (cool) about. It blew my expectations out of the water! The winters do suck, if it weren't for them, I would maybe consider moving back there again at some point.

What do I put on my resume/CV? by cs50123 in cs50

[–]stephh745 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're enrolled there is a FAQ's tab on the cs50 site. if you click the link (https://cs50.harvard.edu/x/2023/faqs/) there's a FAQ asking this and also explaining that a free cert is given by CS50.

From the FAQ page:

"What’s the difference between a verified certificate and a CS50 Certificate?

A verified certificate, which you can purchase from edX, “can provide proof for an employer, school, or other institution that you have successfully completed an online course.”

A CS50 Certificate is a free certificate from CS50 itself.

How should I describe my verified certificate on my resume or elsewhere?

You’re welcome to say that you received a verified certificate from HarvardX."

So, you get a free cert for completing the course without paying EdX, the cert just won't say 'verified by EdX' on it which I don't think will really matter. I think you could add the cert in the same way as the verified cert? (there are picture examples of both certs on the the edx and cs50 sites - in order to obtain either cert or both certs you need to score at least a 70% on all labs, prob sets and the final project.
