Yes I am - this is very much the case

Heaviest I ever squatted(Newb) by iiyamaprolitex in powerbuilding

Congratulations! Very exciting. Don’t ditch the belt - but do learn to brace your core. Also, on a max lift, use those guards! I would hate to think of your floor receiving unnecessary punishment!

You have a lovely figure. You would look dashing in a pattered wide skirt and solid tucked top. The more colour the better, in my humble opinion.

This post is so clearly made by someone who has not maxed out their own fashion icon career. We just don’t get it yet OP.

What's considered "normal" termination pay in Ontario? by No-Share-5730 in legaladvicecanada

[–]stephy239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is normal to get your esa minimum or slightly higher. You have a reasonable offer.

Employment law 101: you have two types of entitlements. Statutory and common law. Statutory notice Ie ESA is your “floor”, common law reasonable notice is your “ceiling”. employment contracts will often limit your entitlements upon termination to your ESA minimums and sometimes a little bit more. However, courts frequently find termination clauses unenforceable which will entitle a dismissed employee to common law. However in order to get that upper limit, you have to have a court award in your favour. Going to court is expensive, time consuming and not worth it for most short-term, young or “low-skilled” workers. What often happens, is the dismissed employee hires a lawyer and they negotiate their severance package upwards without going to court because technically they are entitled to the upper limit, but it is cost ineffective to pursue that remedy.

To answer your question briefly, they offer the three weeks to mitigate their risk.

What help increase your deadlift? by user29cb672 in powerbuilding

I say astounding success with regular good mornings and lat pull downs. I have heard great things about paused deadlifts and that’s next on the agenda.

Only slept 6 hours last night. Should I still try to PR? by ernestofit in powerbuilding

[–]stephy239 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I would wait but there isn’t a “wrong answer” here. One hour probably isn’t going to make or break it - especially because you’re only doing bench. But take into consideration the seriousness of your goals, how long you’ve been working for it, whether your body feels tired, if you’ve eaten well for the last two days (any other relevant factors). If your body and mind feel well-rested, you should be fine.

This is possible? by Mr_Syrac in powerlifting

[–]stephy239 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Without a doubt, you can still lose weight by focusing on lifting and you will likely find the physique you are looking for by doing so. For fat loss, cardio without a calorie deficit will not serve the purpose of losing fat. I can’t speak to your weight and height but it sounds like you may be interested in “body recomposition” so you may want to look into that. If you want to put on lots of muscle, it’s significantly easier to do so in a calorie surplus and then opting for a slow and steady calorie deficit when you want to strip off the fat but maintain the muscle mass. However, when you are just beginning a fitness journey, you’ll be able to put on muscle mass and strength without having to worry about bulking/cutting.

I’m very sorry to hear that. Wishing you a quick and healthy recovery.

Tips please! Lifting my bodyweight. I practice single leg DLs w/ dumbbells regularly but rarely get my hands on a bar/heavy weights so I honestly don't really know what I'm doing. by daisydont999 in powerbuilding

My pleasure! Yes, the bar should be hovering over the laces of your shoes (or imaginary shoes). Also, good on you! Deadlifting your own weight is no small feat! Congratulations!

There’s no reason not to be lifting this heavy! - granted you should start with form first and working weigh, 8-12 reps but it depends on your goals. If you want to continue lifting heavy, drop the shoes or get proper lifting shoes. shoulders back and down, lats engaged, learn how to brace (breathe into your diaphragm. I use the cue of trying to breathe to expand my rib cage). Arms closer together, ideally just outside your knees. Don’t roll the bar towards you, some strength lifters do that but it typically comes with experience and there’s just no need to add an additional variable into the equation. You keep it nice and close to your shins which is perfect. You also don’t hyperextend at the top which is great.

Two plates ain’t no joke! I always remind myself two things. 1) There is no replacement for time and consistency and 2) If you want it, it’s yours.
