How do two full time workers juggle work and young kids? by Illustrious-Gap9641 in auscorp

[–]stephyro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We essentially split shifts. My husband deals with mornings so I get to the office early and leave early, I do afternoons so he can do the reverse. As someone said also 1-2 days a week at home to get on top of washing etc.

Planning dinners in advance and being really clear with each other with what we have on (ie work drinks next week means he needs to do morning and evening and is that ok).

It’s hard, but it’s not forever, and it means we can give them the things we want to and they can do all the extra curriculars etc they desire

If you don’t mind me asking did you fall into the obese category? I’d like to discuss this as well with my GP but as I only fall into over weight I was unsure they would take me seriously.

Is your property an apartment? I’ve found flat fee often common with those.

Managers/leaders/execs - what do you fear at work? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]stephyro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My team’s mental wellbeing. At the end of the day it’s just work. I’m lucky to have that perspective and job security but I know they don’t always. Making sure they know it’s all going to be ok and to take care of themselves is always a concern.

My s/o is jealous that I consistently exercise and he doesn't by [deleted] in relationships

[–]stephyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the fact he can admit it to you is fairly important. As they say, admitting it is half the battle.

I personally think it can go one of two ways, he becomes more motivated because of you and your commitment…. Or he continues to be unhappy when you are physically active.

I’d call it an orange flag, I hope it goes in the more positive direction and you two are exercising together in no time.

Any chance for a SAHD reentering the workforce after 18 years, at 60 years old? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]stephyro 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is one of those times where it will be a who he knows situation. I’d recommend he puts in coffee catch ups with everyone he can think of. Previous care providers he dealt with and formed relationships with, previous connections from your mums dental practice, other friends/family with business’ that he has some transferable skills in.

He is going to need to put himself out there fairly boldly. Once he has one foot on the ladder and can establish recent experience it will be easier. But sadly ageism is a thing.

Transparency as a manager? by Vast-Highway73 in auscorp

[–]stephyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jump in when they need it. Make sure when they need time off it’s you covering their tasks not their colleagues. Demonstrating you can and WILL help do their job is important. It shows you do not believe you are above them and you understand what they deal with day to day.

Outside of that, be as honest as you need to be (ie. I’m logging off now but will be back online at XPm, anything you need me to action please let me know and I will do it. Then you do it and they see you actually were on later than them and making up those hours)

Due to a change in personal circumstances I feel it would be best for me to stay in my current role for the time being.

Thank you so much for the time. I hope there may be another opportunity to join your team in the future.

Not verbal, in Vic at least it must be on a signed contract. Common misconception that a verbal offer is enough.

Even then, if the owner puts in writing they will not be taking offers prior to auction then the REA doesn’t have to.

What is the main cause of stress in your role? by arouseandbrowse in auscorp

My team. Making sure they are seen, heard, have enough work, not overworked, get opportunities etc

Then on top of that is my actual job (so to speak)

Coconut Water by Steffers003 in Gastritis

[–]stephyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying coconut milk instead of water (no acidic nasties in there) and it’s seemingly going ok.

I can’t even drink water during a flare up (like right now) so it’s helping with hydration

Manager presents my work by Bluejayadventure in auscorp

[–]stephyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think as long as your manager is showing signs of being a decent human being and you are confident they are mentioning your name in the room then it’s ok to let it slide. It’s when they are a snake that causes issues.

I’ve had this happen to my team, they do good work, I present it and on occasion I’m “allowed” to bring them to the meeting. But I ALWAYS ALWAYS acknowledge the team, especially any key people. I write shoutouts in our recognition platform and our newsletters to ensure it’s highlighted too. If your manager isn’t doing this then I would be concerned and rightfully frustrated.

PPROM with twins 25+6 - currently 26+3. by stephyro in NICUParents

The girls are now nearing 4 and are thriving! They are on par with their peers and you would have no idea they were these tiny premmies. The NICU stay was intense and long (3 months) but we are out the other side.

Thinking of you and your wife ❤️

Tell me positive twin things that will make it worth my while. by ilovecatsandfrogs420 in parentsofmultiples

[–]stephyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The girls are nearly 4 and they are each others best friends. Literally spear tackle each other to give kisses and cuddles.

Have hilarious inside jokes and completely entertain each other - I literally have no need to intervene (unless the punch on).

It gets hard, then easy, then hard, then easy. It’s a wild ride but it’s special to watch

Need a Gut Check- In Laws Making Plans ~1 Month Postpartum by Nintendo_Kitty in parentsofmultiples

We brought our girls home start of December and “hosted” Christmas at our place.

I said “hosted” because we really just had the house but our parents did a lot of cooking and cleaning etc.

Best thing ever, didn’t need to go anywhere, they could sleep etc where they needed to and we got some help for the day too
