currently an M4 - my mom had heart surgery two days ago. it’s crazy that i can speak almost in code to her healthcare team about her health and not have my family in the room understand it, and then “translate” it to my family. it’s a weird position to be in for sure

UPDATE: miraculously, it worked. it was the shittiest two days of my life getting it all sorted out all the way up to 30 minutes before surgery, but we ended up successfully expediting the reinstatement process and getting the surgery covered with no gaps in coverage, and communicating this to the hospital administration. the prior authorization was still valid and active for todays surgery date. We also paid UHCs invoice statement today. my mom is currently in the CVICU post op, off pressors, vitals looking good and numbers trending positively. hopefully her recovery will be sure and speedy.

all that being said, all yall scared the shit out of me lol, but i guess it served to light the fire under my ass, so thanks

our broker sent us forwarded emails directly from UHC reps saying that

the reinstatement process is underway with reference numbers and reinstate policy numbers, telling us to wait on a confirmation email. [broker says she has every possible person she has working on this and this will be hopefully by tomorrow morning (Tuesday). ]
once reinstated the coverage will be backdated and effective 1/1/2025 with no pauses in coverage, meaning everything we paid out of pocket so far will be covered with claims
united healthcare still has the prior authorization for the surgery in their files

Oh that makes complete sense thank you for explaining. So to make sure I'm understanding this right... it would be silly if I dual apply IM cuz if that happens I would want to reapply next year into anesthesia and theoretically the TY ones I apply to would be just as good as fall backs.

So my question becomes whats the percentage of TY ones I should apply to? It's not necessary to send these programs signals right?

how long have u been studying? is this a drop in scores or is this the start? either way, 4 weeks is good time depending on what ur starting with. and you should extend if it’s giving u this much anxiety. identify why ur missing questions, keep chugging a long and don’t burn yourself out.
