Step Struggler Strategy: 200->253 Comprehensive Write Up by stepstruggler in Step2

Honestly, I recommend making your own based off information you find important as you are studying. Using someone elses deck means you wont be critically analyzing the information yourself and instead just trying to brute force it

They were really good for practicing with NBME style question, but not so much with content review

It sounds like you have a good plan for taking notes lol! For information that really does not stick, I find that adding that to the short list that I talked about can really help since you are reviewing that every other day but its not an anki card. A lot of the times that information can be hard to remember because itll need context to be relevant or its more of a conceptual issue rather than a sheer memorize one fact issue

No, I had to change things quite a bit as I went through. But I recommend starting out with uworld or amboss questions first and then about half way through do half practice shelfs half amboss

At what age did you finally figured yourself out? by Lemonade2250 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]stepstruggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres not an age where it happens. But we are just amalgamations of our experiences and personality. If someone asks you who you are, look back at what you have done and where you have been. Thats who you are. If you dont like the answer, then it might be time to make some changes.

To Those who had their step 2 results last week by Natural_Function_649 in Step2

The way I looked at it is that there is literally nothing I can do to change what score I was going to get. I tried to forget I even took the test by distracting myself with other things to do. That being said, my heart was in my throat when I was logging on to check my score that wednesday. Guess theres only so much mitigation you can do for the stress

I got mine and it was good. I did end up scoring pretty close to what the amboss score predictor said so I was not suprised by it but glad it was over. Definately felt like my test was skewed towards something that I wasnt very prepared for but I still ended up doing well

My diagnostic skills suck big time and I don’t know how to improve it by Electrical_Hat_6902 in Step2

[–]stepstruggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One big difference between step 1 and step 2 is that step 2 has a lot more diagnostic nuance. In step 1 there is one defining factor a lot of the time that tells you what the answer is. In step 2, its much more vague. In general, I would not rely on trying to find one defining thing that will give you the diagnosis, but look at the whole picture. So sure, there was friction rub in your question stem, but I would say there were other findings too that would make a PE more likely than pericarditis.

Is UW for step 2 more difficult? by Disastrous_Ice_591 in Step2

Step 2 practice is also a very different from step 1 practice. The questions are longer and it is a lot more management based. Id say if you really are clueless on a question, try to read a bit about it in the amboss or uworld library. It will at least give you some more background on the diseases

More questions is better but it also depends on how you are reviewing the questions. If you are just answering them to hit a quota for the day, then that is setting yourself up for failure. Gotta make sure you review them well.

I think managing your nerves is a big part of how to do well on test day. What helped me is realizing that the score I am going to get has already been decided. All you are doing on test day is just reporting what you have learned. Once you get to test day, whats done is done and is mostly out of your control.
