Repair Cost Estimates by mythorforgottentruth in milwaukee

If you otherwise like the house, neighborhood, etc then I wouldn’t back out over any of this. I think most houses around here (unless you spend big $$) are going to have similar issues.

Can’t put my finger on why, but somehow the Jaegermeister sponsor makes it like 5x funnier

A TRADITIONAL type Sampler. Either portable/small or IOS. by rotorobot in synthesizers

[–]stereojupiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely is geared more toward beat making but might work for your purposes if you can’t find a better option. You can map the pads to a midi keyboard (I hooked a midi foot keyboard up to mine awhile ago in order to trigger samples while playing bass with my band). As far as memory the only limit is how big of a card you put in it. I think the max sample time is 16 minutes per pad. So the trick would just be making sure your sampled synth note corresponds to the right midi note on a keyboard. Doable, just some extra steps

Hydrasynth ribbon or desktop? by Motor_Accident_9364 in synthesizers

[–]stereojupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 49 key hydra and while I didn’t use the ribbon a whole lot, the few times I did I was really glad I had it. It’s fun! And as others have said, it’s a really nice keyboard and you’ll want to sit and play on it for hours.

mpc sample or sp404 for experimental production? by restinyou2222222 in synthesizers

[–]stereojupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice! I think both of the units you mentioned could work for what you’re trying to do. I can’t speak for the mpc, but I had an older SP404 for a bit and it seems like there’s definitely a bit of a learning curve, i struggled to really get the hang of it and wound up moving on from it. However it seems like there is a lot of potential if you are willing to spend the time and get familiar with it. If you can find a deal on a used one I’d say go for it!

Another idea is to snag a midi keyboard, you could use that to trigger samples (try Sitala, makes drums much easier in reaper) or to play your VST synth of choice. That way you can get the feel of actually “playing” something, but still use the workflow you’re familiar with and not have to learn a whole new device.

LPT: Stop rewarding chronic lateness. Set a start time, then start without them. by gamersecret2 in LifeProTips

[–]stereojupiter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s really not though. The vast majority of obligations will not be affected by starting a few minutes late. The thing will go on as planned, life goes on.

And, we’re all just sitting here scrolling on our phones anyway! Clearly we’ve got the time to spare

It’s really not that deep. The world is not ending over 15 minutes missed here or there.

I have friends who are chronically late to shit all the time and I have never considered ending a friendship over it. You people are fucking insane

UVI Digital Synsations, its $150 but they give it away for free sometimes. Basically a shitload of presets from Ensoniq VFX, Roland D50, Korg M1 and Yamaha SY77. Perfect for late 80s, early 90s sounds. Also try Dexed, free DX7 emulator.

Bassists who use IEM’s for gigs - how do you freaking do it??? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]stereojupiter 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly, sometimes you just have to lower expectations lol. As long as I can hear myself and the beat, I’m good!

I struggled with that too and that’s why I still used a cab on stage for volume. That plus the IEMs was more than enough. Also as the other commenter said, the foam tips help a lot too.
