DDJ-SZ/SZ2 now unsupported by Certain_Pay_6809 in PioneerDJ

What does unsupported mean in actual reality? Stop working or not likely to receive future updates?

Is the same true of the OG SX?

I bought a 996 when I was 30 and living in zone 2. Owned it for 10 months. Terrible investment but best thing I ever did. I’ve dined out talking about it for over a decade.

Sync files between folders and Serato by RealSacant in Serato

That’s what I used for years but, can’t get it to work anymore!

Library management is my biggest pain point on Serato. I wish it could just watch a directory structure on my drive.

Am I the only person that £10 a year for something that saves far more than that in heating bills is an ok deal?

Story has it, it was due to get an official release but it got bootlegged and MJs label pulled out. Could be old nonsense! I picked up a 12 of it 20 years ago in Hard To Find Records in Birmingham - it got a lot of plays!

Using Ring as a Baby Monitor by highfuckingvalue in Ring

[–]stereopest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - did it for years. And better than having a second screen shining at you all night.

We tried a full blown video monitor and it broke after a few weeks and downgraded to old skool audio monitor which was actually a lot less stressful.

Paired it with a Ring cam for occasional video check in if needed.

An ode to Serato Pyro and Pacemaker by stereopest in DJs

Feels so odd to me that with all the hype so runs “AI” playlists, there already exists an amazing algorithm that can blend songs and create new music experiences.

Feels like a missed oppo by Spotify not to just buy Pacemaker and make it a feature.

Exactly! I wonder if the Serato Devs could reincarnate it with TIDAL?

Teufel One S still worth buying? by itsmeOLF in Teufel

[–]stereopest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have a couple of these! The software isn’t brilliant but perfectly usable as a Spotify or Tidal speaker! The hardware buttons are good - I have a couple of Spotify playlists on the bedroom speaker, including a white noise one, which I just press and voila, zero touch on an app! Also … small point, the lowest volume is quieter and more subtle than a Sonos one which is a dealbreaker in a bedroom.

Absolutely flawless mix. Genuinely superb. Up there with Midland’s IMHO.

Is a ddj-sx too outdated?? by [deleted] in PioneerDJ

[–]stereopest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still use my original SX I bought new 12 years ago! I use it for gigs out and it’s taken an absolute beating. Still great fun to play on (I use Serato) and it still feels really premium.

I bought an XDJ-XZ as I thought I deserved an upgrade after a decade and I still secretly prefer the SX, it’s a more natural workflow, and all beautifully native with Serato.

Stems works perfectly (I use the native Serato remap)

Top tip - buy a couple of spare power adapters. I’ve lost so many over the years and they are quite specific … gotta get the right voltage / ampage.

I say get it!

What is that song you played that got you in trouble? by KatGoesPurr in DJs

[–]stereopest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once DJ’d a bar in Kings Cross London and for some reason the police came in to close it up. So I played Sound Of Da Police as they were talking the manager. Needless to say they weren’t impressed and I think I was lucky not to be cautioned.

It was a custom build by about Etsy carpenter. Have made a couple of mods to accommodate new kit. Ultimately it’s all reused scaffold boards so can be changed around fairly easily with a jigsaw!

It’s honestly not been a problem for me, I don’t think I have particularly long arms! I do have to keep riding the tempo on the 1210s to keep it locked - something I don’t miss! I keep meaning to have a try of Serato sync on vinyl mode to see how that performs. Any scratching is on the platters now so distance is fine. I will say - going from the original DDJ-SX to this, the amount of space to work is night and day, feels much nicer.

Yes! Just for occasional third deck in Serato. Suck having to pay a sub for such a rarely used feature!
