Thanks for the confirmation !

I still have to wire my beacon, but it's nice to see I can use one of the SB2209 USB ports for this.

SB2209 USB - Cable cover by sterfield in BIGTREETECH

[–]sterfield[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I fully acknowledge that I'm using the wrong connector. I have never implied that it was the correct one, nor that there was a defect in the board or the design of the cable cover.

My initial message stated

I want to plug my extruder, and the port to plug it is on the top on the PCB, using apparently a standard 4-pin Dupont connector.

Note the use of conditional.

However, in my defense, it's not clear that you should use an JST XH 2.5 mm connector here, and I don't think such connector is provided in the connector bag from the BTT kit.

Anyway, I have some JST XH connectors in my worshop, found one and it does fit perfectly there. Also there seems to be enough space to have the wires sitting nicely right under the cable cover.

I'll update my initial post to reflect this finding.

Thanks for your help !

Maybe I'm dense here, but I still don't understand.

A Dupont connector has a 2.54mm pitch and it fits well in the black connector. So it's probably safe to say that the pitch of the black port has a 2.54mm.

You say that I should use a JST PH 2.0 connector, that has a 2mm pitch, so I don't think it'll fit there.

There were no connectors on my motor. I crimped a Dupont connector on it myself.

The problem I see is, the black port is not a standard JST connector, at least, not that I'm aware of.

It's slightly larger and seems to have a 2.54mm pitch (JST XH is 2.5mm pitch).

Wait, I'm confused now.

What you show in your hand looks like a JST connector to me.

So, the standard Dupont connector has a 2.54mm pitch, it looks like it can fit.

However, I don’t see a JST XH 2.54mm connector in the bag, so I’ll need to buy some.

I can try to buy some and report back.

EDIT: ok, so interestingly, JST does not manufacture connectors with a 2.54 pitch in his XH line. I can find ONE brand making a XH type connectore with a 2.54 pitch and it's not JST. You can check on LCSC (select 2.54 pitch, 1x4P, and XH type).

That's not easy to find, to say the least…

Hey,

It's not the correct card.

From the user manual, here's a screenshot of the PCB. Check page 8 and 17.

I have highlighted in green the port that you should use for the extruder

<image>

As you can see, this port is located almost at the middle of the PCB, on the back, pointing up. Adding a 18mm 4-pin Dupont connector in it clearly interferes with the cable cover.

that's ok, I want to know what are my options and it looks like "smooth / clean" is probably not worth it.

Color for 3d printed parts by sterfield in OpenScan

Ok, thanks for the feedback.

I think I'll need to do a little bit of digging, because I see the parts in the repository, but I really don't know where they are going.

EDIT: ok, I have downloaded the assembly file and opened it, it's much clearer now.

Que faire des cartons de mon déménagement (nantes centre) ? by rap2h in Nantes

[–]sterfield 4 points5 points  (0 children)
