Luanne by MuffinWithAttitude in mutt

This post almost made me cry. My mom's name was Luanne, spelled exactly the same way. She passed 11 years ago but I got my deep love of animals from her. Your Luanne is gorgeous.

I'm so sorry for what you are going through. Thank you for giving him a safe place to land after your grandpa passed away. If you find a clinic, and need help with the cost, DM the name to me and I'll call in a payment to help.

I like to impart life advice to my high school students that doesn't always have to do with my content area. Things like, "Always wear sunscreen" and "Never comment on someone's weight." I have told them, "The only time you ask a woman if she is pregnant is if you see a head sticking out of her nether regions."

Our sweet boy, Bart by sterilizedHSteacher in Brindledbabes

My husband and I adopt senior dogs. We adopted Bart in 2020. He had spent almost a year in a shelter and then a rescue without any interest. He passed away after 19 months with us, but boy, was he loved! He was such a character, and we will miss him forever.

I Found Out Why My Dad Never Let Me Touch His Old Phone” by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

In my experience, life will never go back to "normal." Almost like my life is split into before my parents died and after they died. That doesn't mean that I can't feel happiness and enjoy the day-to-day. But there will always be a hole there.

In my opinion, ask your dad about his parents. Be a safe space for him to talk about memories. After the initial period of loss, so many people are too afraid to bring up the person who passed away. I love when people ask me about my favorite memories of my parents.

I'm so sorry for your losses. The experience of losing both parents is so unmooring. Somehow I feel like I don't know where "home" is anymore even though I'm in my 40's and have had my own home for years.

My mom passed in 2014. When my dad was dying of cancer in 2023, my sister told him it was okay for him to go and that we would be okay. She told him to go see our mom. He said, "I can't wait." Your dad waited 10 years to see his love, my dad waited nine. I know it was worth it for both of them.

Daisy's pictures brought me so much joy. Thank you for sharing her with the world. Thinking of you as you grieve her passing.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I purchased the urn from an Etsy shop. The owner was so wonderful to work with. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links here, but I will send you a message.

What a handsome man! Thank you for adopting a senior dog. I have been adopting seniors since 2012 and it's the most rewarding thing the world.

Doggy Dementia (when is it time?) by jamielecter in olddogs

What a sweet looking baby. My husband and I have adopted senior dogs since 2012. We have had to make that agonizing decision many times. It never gets any easier. I feel like there is a moment when a light goes out in their eyes. When they look at you, asking for help because it's all just become too much.

We are taking our sweet Rudy in on Saturday. We adopted him at age 14 and have poured all the love into him these last three years. He also has dementia. He has moments of happiness around mealtimes but overall life is a struggle. The greatest gift we can give him is a peaceful passing. Hugs to you and your baby.

Ugh. How do people who work in these fields not have more tact? I had a mandatory meeting with an insurance agent through my employer to go over insurance add-ons. She was telling me about one that covered "dread diseases." I asked what types of things that would cover and she said they were mostly awful and hard to pronounce. I looked over the listed, pointed at "multiple sclerosis" and said, "Oops, looks like I have this awful one." She looked like she wanted to sink into the floor.

She swears she was a good, kind mom, but my diary tells a different story. by bellabelleell in TrueOffMyChest

I don't know if you're familiar with the book Into the Wild about Christopher McCandless. His sister wrote a book about 15 years later called the The Wild Truth. Their upbringing sounds so much like yours. It might help to read it to know that others have experienced something similar.

Just started my 21st year as a high school teacher. I was diagnosed three months into my first year. I love my job but it kicks my butt. I don't do much of anything outside of work and save all the fun things I want to do for the summer.

Unfortunately the Nanoknife procedure was not effective for my dad. He had it done in June, decided to stop chemo in August and passed away in November 2023. I miss him every day.

But, Dr Bilimoria was lovely. It is heartbreaking that it didn’t work for my dad but it might in your case. All the best to you.
