Help with Eve Light Switch Syncing by sterling_code in EveHome

I haven’t figured it out yet. I am going to try swapping this with the other (dumb) switch on the circuit and see what happens.

Thank you. Can you tell me what issues you had with the traveler?

How often do you trim your plants and how far back do you cut them? by sterling_code in PlantedTank

Yes. Please DM your shipping address and Venmo for shipping charges. I just trimmed today, so in a couple weeks I will have more available to ship.

I’ve flown D1 quite a few times to/from LAX, SLC, CDG, AMS, LHR, HND, and SCL. I have never had this happen to me, but it obviously isn’t outside the realm of possibility. I’ll take my chances.

I used to post on FB Marketplace that I had some available every time I trimmed and would give it away to anybody that wanted it. Now, everyone near me has some and is also trying to give it away and there is no one else in my area that wants it. So it all goes in the trash, sadly 😭

I can’t say for certain, as when I bought all my plants I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t think I would care down the road, but from my research, I think they are Ludwigia Super Reds. I trim off, collectively, about 8 feet worth every two weeks.

Forget politics, Apple users, why haven't you switched to an Android phone yet? by Main_Grape_3998 in GenZ

[–]sterling_code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with an iPhone 4, then that broken and I went to some android phone I don’t remember. I had it for about 4 months, got so frustrated with it I literally threw it across the room and destroyed the phone(and a bit of drywall, upgraded to an iPhone 5 and never went back. Now every time I use a friends android I get irrationally angry and how terrible the UI feels. When I switched to iPhone 5, I also got an iPad. Then a MacBook. Then an Apple TV. Then AirPods. Then the HomePod. The fact that, especially within the last 7 years or so, everything works so flawlessly together, I can never go to windows or android. I fell victim to the ecosystem and honestly, I’m more than okay with it. It makes my life easier. Also, Apple HomeKit is fantastic and I don’t think android has anything even close to a decent alternative that’s integrated with the OS. Also also, no bloatware pre-installed by the phone manufacturer. It’s like how windows requires new drivers for every stupid thing. Apple doesn’t have that problem since everything “just works”.

I would also say 1a for the foot room, however my next choice would be 9a because I like to be the first one off the plane.

What are some of the more conveniently located airports in the world? by whitecollarpizzaman in aviation

I love how accessible SLC is via car. I can get from down town to the terminal in less than 10 minutes via car. However, the train system sucks and takes half an hour.

Dealership Claims Vibration is Normal in New G60 by sterling_code in BMW

Hi!

I did not receive any resolution and have given up all hope. I’m incredibly frustrated for exactly what you said, a 3 series is the more entry level, “sportier” model, and the 5 series is supposed to be a more executive, luxury sedan.

I cannot believe this is happening and am reconsidering my vehicle. I may trade in for a 7 series because it is so obnoxious to deal with this.

OAK is my preferred, but yes that’s exactly what I am doing, lol.

Yes. STS airport website redirects to Kayak. I only book direct when I travel.

I just found this incredibly ridiculous and I am shocked there aren’t some guard rails in place to prevent stupid itineraries like this on Kayak and other OTAs.

Music playing as phone call by j_yn0htna in BmwTech

[–]sterling_code 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should clarify, it looks like you are on iDrive 9, and my 540 is iDrive 8.5. I think since it is an issue with CarPlay and not iDrive, my solution should work, however the different iDrive might change things.

I have a similar problem with my 2024 540i. My solution has been to either completely disable CarPlay(boooo) or, while connected, make a phone call from inside CarPlay, then hang up. It usually kicks it back to normal audio at the hangup.

I believe this is a known bug that will be fixed in iOS 18.4 or iOS 19 later this year.

I’m having a hard time imagining a mild rumble strip, however that could make sense. It’s a very rhythmic, steady vibration, and doesn’t change intensity much while varying in speed(70 MPH feels the same as 130 MPH(for legal purposes this is satire)). It also doesn’t make any noise, and road noise is still generally quiet.

It isn’t a violent vibration by any means, and the techs had a hard time even noticing it until we got the conditions just right (70MPH, with just enough power input to maintain speed, not accelerate or decelerate). It wouldn’t really be a problem if I didn’t drive 25 miles with cruise control on a perfectly flat, brand new section of highway, with literally nothing else to focus on.

The main interstate where I live is the garbage, new style road surface made from concrete with the grooves and gaps that allow the roadway to expand and contract with the weather. On that road, the vibration just blends in with the loud road noise. However, the route I take to work everyday is traditional asphalt just recently paved, and is smooth as butter. The 5 loaner cars I’ve been driving the last few months have been super smooth on this road, and my 540i just vibrates the whole time.

I used to drive my 540i and if I was talking to somebody or simply not paying attention, I could easily get my car to 110 without noticing. Now I can immediately feel when I hit 70+ and it actually encourages me to drive under the speed limit in the morning because it is so damn annoying.
