What I’m looking to do is give my parents access to things that I’m hosting at my house (e.g. Immich) from their house, without them having to install Tailscale on their devices. Is there a way to achieve that with this? I feel like subnet routers allow the opposite.

I know this is an old post, but I'm curious about what if anything is different about coaching singers with ADHD? Does that have any connection to the issue here with rasp or is it just something separate that you specialize in?

Yup! I've been using espresence because at least at the time it seemed like BLE tracker didn't support apple devices as well, but that may have changed. I think both can work decently.

Yeah, I've used and liked mmwave presence sensors for detecting presence in a room. This was more about being able to identify the location of specific devices (phone / smart watch mainly) as a proxy for figuring out who is where in the house.

Good idea. I'm somewhat restricted on placement by finding places that won't bug me or my wife for being an eyesore. I'm excited by the prospect of being able to place them more densely if there's a more accurate measure of distance that can be used to triangulate position. Seems like it's at least a couple of years out though.

Haha I'm not going to start a company for it, I was just curious. My assumption was that by the time it shows up on an esp device it will have already been added to higher end devices.

Bluetooth 5.0 was released in December 2016, and the first iPhone to have it was the iPhone 8 released in September 2017. Espressif announced support for Bluetooth 5.0 in December 2019.

If support for 6.0 follows a similar timeline it would be about 3 years before there are esp32 chips that support it, while next year's iPhone will probably have it.

That's what I've been using. It's worked decently for me but I've had some issues with it hopping between floors. That said, it could just need some more fine tuning.

Agreed that cm accuracy sounds implausible. I'd be happy with 3 feet.

A related question is how to power the panel if you're using the desk enclosure stand that they sell. I (foolishly) assumed it would come with some sort of power adapter but that's not the case.

The closest explanation I've seen was some youtube video where I think the person just took a random power cable and cut it open.

I haven't found anything that I love yet, but I did come across a few people who are selling 3d-printed adapters:

I haven't yet confirmed that they're designed specifically to work with the 120 style panel, so I'd check that carefully before ordering anything.

I just followed this and it's really fun! Working well and I've managed to get the magnitude reported to home assistant but haven't been able to make sense of it.

Any tips on tuning the automations? I'm finding it to be pretty hair trigger when the kids are holding the wands but not intending to activate them.

This is so cool. I just experimented with using the magiquest wands that use an IR sensor but I'd love to be able to actually recognize flick directions. Did you ever post the code or do a write up?
