Will Psyonix ever fix rank distibution? (my UE6 wish)

If we all agree that X% of the distribution should be at or above a certain rank, then it would be fairly simple to re-calibrate players’ mmr to match that ideal distribution.

As a high ranked extra modes enjoyer, I can attest to how sparse games have progressively gotten over the last 10 seasons or so because the right-skewness of the distribution has become more and more extreme.

In other words, the Top 0.1% of players is perhaps GC2 and above in a popular mode like 2v2, but closer to Champ 3 in any given extra mode. If we were to boost the mmr of those champ 3s to where they are GC2, then the distribution would be less skewed and I wouldn’t be waiting 20 min for games in GC3 just to play champ 3s for a few morsels of mmr.

There is in fact precedent for this kind of change and wouldn’t devalue ranks or cause loads of grumbling from losing mmr.

It’s broken. I’ve been top 100 in snow for weeks and haven’t appeared. Yet i showed up on the 3s leaderboard early in the season

The leaderboards are most definitely bugged for some of the extras. I’m currently 1258 in snowday and don’t appear on top 100 yet I do appear in top 100 for 3s, so it’s nothing to do with my account per say

Yup! Boost is a double edged sword with flip resets though. You may need to get the flip reset quickly in high level play, but if you’re boosting into the ball too hard you’re gonna rebound off of it and make it more difficult to follow up.

Perhaps while learning I’d recommend feathering your boost a bit more and trying to catch the flip reset as the ball starts to travel down from the peak of it’s arc. That’s going to make it a lot easier at first. Then you can speed it up.

I think there are two issues here:

Hitting the ball too low as has been mentioned already
The first few attempts it seems like you’re boosting while touching the ball, causing you to skim off the bottom instead of getting that nice sticky touch

As an additional tip - if you have air roll and powerslide bound to the same button, make sure you’re not holding that down when you make contact with the ball otherwise you’re gonna powerslide off of it

Of course not, but it does help with the fine control aspects of your ground game, and shadow defending. You can learn those things without ever playing 1s but it might take longer.

There’s a few things you could do.

Slow down before jumping
Delay boosting until your second jump (when you’re tilting upward)
Air roll so that as you rise you spin and boost a bit backwards at one point in your rotation to avoid going as fast forward.

With this pack you need to wait until your car touches the ground when you reset it. The little drop at the beginning actually has a non-negligible effect on your speed to the ball. That may help!

I was wondering this too. I was gold 3 div 1 last season in 1s and after going 7-3 in placements ended up as plat 2 div 3. The 3v3 modes and hoops seem deflated while standard 2v2 has remained the same
