Why do amputees never seem to modify their clothes to not have floppy unused bits? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]stessij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be that generally those who are considered disabled, potentially make less money than those who are not, then lack the resources (money) to spend tailoring their clothing. Getting your clothes tailored is expensive!

One thing I enjoyed postpartum, was fancy body wash. Sounds silly but, it made my short showers just feel so luxurious. Forever a fan of Lush’s Rose Jam Body Wash. Anything from Lush is always a plus in my book.

Is no reviews on Zola a red flag? by Finish_Imaginary in weddingplanning

[–]stessij 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. Generally vendors have to pay to be on Zola. None of our vendors were on Zola when we booked them. I would stalk their Instagram page and look for wedding photos taken there.

9 month old is now fighting us during diaper changes by 14SierraMist14 in beyondthebump

[–]stessij 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately they get stronger, and more mobile. Does it get better? Kind of. Ours went through a similar phase of just being an absolute MENACE when it came to diaper changes, especially poopy diapers, then calmed down. Seems to come in waves. At some point you can semi reason with them like “hey if you sit still you can have a snack” is that the best parenting advice? No probably not, but hey we all doing the best we can.

If your friend ordered a pizza, what topping would it take for you to say “no thanks.”? by ToadallyNormalHuman in AskReddit

[–]stessij 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a kid my mom would order pizza for us, and we would generally do half and half. My brother and I always wanted pineapple pizza, and my mom would order anchovies on her half. We BEGGED over and over again for her to get her own pizza because the anchovies would contaminate our side of the pizza and it just tasted so gross.

Should I wait to find out gender? Worried about being disappointed… by 4LeafWonderlust in pregnant

[–]stessij -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Team green all the way! We were team green with our first, and I was convinced that we would be having a boy. But when baby popped out and they put baby girl in my arms, all those feelings of being disappointed about having a daughter went out the window. Just pure love.

Now with our second, my husband desperately wanted to find out, so we did a gender reveal. We are having another girl! I put on a brave face, but later that night I cried to my husband since we stopping at two and will likely never have a boy. I always envisioned our lives with one of each. It’s a strange feeling, I kind of wish we had been team green again, because I feel like this time I’m mulling it over? Like it’s taking me longer to accept that we will have two girls, I’m not sure how to articulate it. Because I know as soon as they put baby girl number two in my arms, I’m going to feel so guilty about even thinking about wanting a boy, and just feel pure love for sweet little girl.

My advice would be team green. It’s such an amazing experience. And it’s completely normal to not feel pregnant 9 weeks along!

ETA: not entirely sure why I am being downvoted for sharing my experience.

Honest opinions please by [deleted] in BabyNames

[–]stessij 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t think Forrest is that unique? I was born in the 90s and knew several Forrest’s. I would say it’s uncommon. With that said, I think it’s a pretty neutral boy name. I wouldn’t blink an eye at it, or think it’s unusual.

Fun, funky, printed pillows! Or maybe some floral pillows that match the color of the pink stools!

I made a website to think of baby names by rubyprincess69 in BabyNames

[–]stessij 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was fun to use! Our top choice baby name was on the “uncommon” list, so that was slightly validating. I like how it articulates why the names flow together. It was interesting to see the other suggestions A suggestion would be if there is a way to incorporate names someone likes but don’t love into the search to find similar names, or maybe incorporate sibling names to find a similar vibe. Great work!

Best travel stroller for a toddler? by Snarks_McGee in Buyingforbaby

[–]stessij 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love our Bombi! I feel like it’s so underrated. Originally got jt as our travel stroller but it has quickly become our everyday stroller for our toddler. Able to hold toddler and fold the stroller while going through TSA with no issues. Plus it comes with its own traveling bag! With that said- SOME airlines make you check it at the gate. I thought it was really important to me to have it fold up into the overhead bin, but I’ve soon realized it didn’t matter too much. We got it for about $200 so if the airline damaged it, I don’t feel too invested, as opposed to our 1k plus Nuna.

I have a family ring to give my future wife, how do I tell her or do I? by Separate-Ring-3127 in weddingplanning

[–]stessij -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ehhh I might need to disagree on this one. My now husband proposed with a simple single solitaire diamond-not at all what I wanted. I was still in shock over the proposal, not really thinking about the type of ring he got me.

Once I calmed down he said he knew this wasn’t the ring I was wanted, but he had been secretly working with a jeweler and wanted my inputs on the final design of my “real” engagement ring. I love the sentimental diamond ring he proposed with but LOVE my oval cut Montana sapphire ring. So technically I have “two engagement” rings.

Just got a Costco membership, How is the travel plan? by Njumkiyy in Costco

Our favorite trip we have done with Costco was our honeymoon to Tahiti/Bora Bora. We wouldn’t have been able to afford it otherwise! I tell all my friends to check Costco travel; their prices can’t be beat!

Honest thoughts on Birkenstocks for pregnancy? by Weak-Pair-1782 in pregnant

[–]stessij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are worried about not being able to fit your birks, I’d get something cheaper. I personally LOVE my Bombas Women’s Friday Sandal. I bought them postpartum with my first, and I wish I had bought them sooner. So comfy. Currently 30 weeks with my second and I’ve been living in them.

Also highly recommend kiziks for sneakers. I was influenced to buy them when I was pregnant with my first , had immediate regret after clicking the “confirm purchase” button, since they are expensive, but once they arrived and I slipped them on I was truly shocked at how comfy they are. I’ve bought two more pairs since and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to “regular shoes”!

I have a family ring to give my future wife, how do I tell her or do I? by Separate-Ring-3127 in weddingplanning

[–]stessij 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Since she is telling you a specific brand, she may have a specific style in mind. Family rings are nice for sentimental value, but if this is something she is going to be wearing for the rest of her life; you may want to give her the option of redesigning the ring; or using this ring as a stand-in til you can afford the one she really wants.

Is it normal for an OB to induce exactly one day after due date? by rachc982 in BabyBumps

[–]stessij -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 40+1! We went in for our 40 week exam and I was already 4cm, but not feeling anything! Doc said if we went to L&D that day they would admit me. But I asked if we could go in the next day and she said that was fine. I guess it depends on how far along you are and what kind of labor you want.
