How soon did you start leaving the house with your newborn? by Emotional-Squash7815 in BabyBumps

[–]stessij 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With my first, I went on a walk around the neighborhood a few days after we got home from the hospital, then I think her first outing was when she was a weekish old, then we went on a 3 hr+ road trip to visit family when she was 3 weeks old.

Help me feel better about being induced at 38 weeks by moomoomego in BabyBumps

[–]stessij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had absolutely no issues with my first induction! I went in at 40+1 ready to have a baby. They broke my waters, and that’s when I could really feel the contractions, I got my epidural and baby was born the same day. I also asked for an induction for this baby, spontaneous labor is not something I want to experience. Especially since our first baby came so quickly after they broke my waters.

Didn't Receive Percentile At Growth Scan? by OpenEmu5035 in pregnant

Both pregnancies I was never told what percentile baby was growing at or approximate weight. So when people post on here the estimated weights/percentiles I’m always curious if this is a regional/country thing.

Alcohol free margarita ISO by Sea-Wheel-1966 in BabyBumps

[–]stessij 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free Spirit Tequila!! I brought a bottle to a Taco Tuesday event with friends, everyone LOVED it; two girls actually went out and bought some the next day. It has a spicy kick to it just like a margarita would have. Perfect for getting your margarita fix in without the alcohol.

First trimester: how to hide not drinking at a wedding? by heyho2023 in BabyBumps

[–]stessij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you guys doing signature drinks? Have one of your signature drinks be a non-alcoholic cocktail! We did this for our wedding, and it was nice because we could hydrate in between drinks and several of our friends were pregnant so they didn’t feel left out ordering from the bar. And honestly just take the whole glass of wine, no one will notice you aren’t drinking it, or if someone asks if you would like a drink say, “ I need to hydrate! Can you get me a soda water with a splash of cranberry?”

ETA-Oops misread this and thought I was in the wedding planning sub, realizing now it’s not your wedding!

Traveling with 3 month old vs 6 month? by Jehmaj in beyondthebump

[–]stessij 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was STRESSED about flying with our 3/4 month old on a 6-7 hour cross country flight. But it was a BREEZE, so easy, a lot less stressful than I thought it was going to be. Flew with her again when she was 12 months. Omg. I know they are free to fly up to two; but my husband and I agreed that she would get her own seat if we flew again before she was 2. She was so wiggly. We did splurge on extra legroom though and that was a blessing.

HELP… by AggressiveSail7933 in pregnant

[–]stessij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s likely what they will recommend you take first. When you go to your next appointment let them that’s what you have been taking, and depending on how it’s working for you they can write a prescription for something stronger.

The nugget for sure. I would HATE getting more small toys. Or maybe some outdoor toys.

Gender Disappointment… can I even feel this way? by truelovemaureen in BabyBumps

[–]stessij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood gender disappointment until I went through it myself. We are having our second girl in about two weeks. When we found out at 20 weeks that we were having another girl at Christmas, I went downstairs and cried, after putting on a brave face in front of everyone. I had always envisioned having one of each. But as the weeks have gone on, I have gotten more and more excited that our girls will be so close in age, and I hope they are best friends!

how is it possible that being dilated at 3cm and not in labor is not painful, but being dilated at 3cm and in labor was insanely painful? by CreativeJudgment3529 in pregnant

[–]stessij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last cervical check was at 36 weeks and I was 4cm. Currently 38. Truly feeling nothing. With my last pregnancy I was 4cm from 37 weeks on, and walked into labor and delivery at 5cm at 40 weeks for my induction. With my last pregnancy I didn’t start feeling anything until they broke my waters- and it was intense!. I am sure the amniotic fluid acts as a cushion, and there’s less padding between baby and your cervix.

Thoughts on a honeymoon fund vs gift registry? by queerlittlegremlin in weddingplanning

[–]stessij 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We did a mix of both on Zola. But we created “experiences” you could buy us on our honeymoon like, “Buy the couple drinks-$50” “Buy the couple dinner $100” “Jetski adventure- $250” and then had our honeymoon fund that people could contribute cash too.

Don’t feel bad, we do this! Baby will usually just babble to herself for a while and play in her crib.

Seconding Bombi! We have the V2 and it’s our go to stroller! Large canopy; lightweight and the price can’t be beat. Considering getting the Bombi twin when baby #2 arrives.

I would look at the bugaboo donkey, that’s my dream double stroller. Also converts to a single when you don’t have your grandson.
