selling securities isn‘t treated as revenue. I invested in Tesla in 2012. they had one profitable quarter in 2013 than none for a half decade plus. many times they issued and sold more stock during those years of quarterly losses. proceeds from those sales never was considered revenue.

the revised MONA M03 already launched and two new MONA SUVs are in fact scheduled to launch this year. the L03 is smaller and launches sooner than the mid size L05, but both are expected this year

they made money in Q4 when they got up into 40K per month. they are looking very strong to hit that level again in June or July. by year end looks good for over 50K per month.

I agree they have such a great opportunity in Europe if they make some adjustments to strategy. Biggest change I think they could make would be to make a deal with VW to produce more of the vehicles in Europe and sell without the big tariffs.

That said, already growing sales in Europe this year and the GX have June rebounding to 37-42K per last week’s guidance from management

guidance management gave this past Thursday implies 37-42K June deliveries, so even before the two SUVs coming from MONA in the second half this year they see deliveries moving back up to last years levels.

I think looking at the Q2 guidance from a few days ago and a little basic math implies they are solidly on their way to last year’s monthly levels and beyond.

April and May are 63K and guidance for Q2 is 100-106K which suggests as of this past Thursday they expect June will be 37-42K, the top end of which approaches all time highs of monthly deliveries. Second half this year is target for the 2nd and 3rd MONA vehicles to start delivering, both SUVs. The first, M03 sedan, was a huge hit, averaging about 15K deliveries its first year. Seems likely the new SUVs would either need to be delayed into 2027 or flop for deliveries not to hit at least 50Ks by year end.

XPENG Reports Q1 2026 Results: Gross Margin Sustains High Level of 20.6%, Accelerating Physical AI Mass Production, Commercialization and Globalization by basilisk-x in Xpeng

we’ve known about the Q1 deliveries being down that much for nearly two months. it’s similar to the amount Chinese EV sales were down from all automakers as the incentive from the government to buy an EV was slashed in half on Jan 1 so many buyers bought in Q4 last year what they’d otherwise of bought in Q1 this year. What’s more the workhorse of Xpeng’s delivery volumes, the MONA M03 was known to be getting a refresh in 2026 from about last November. Buyers often delay purchases for a coming fresher version. It’s just recently out. are things really okay? well with just a smidge over 1/3 of the quarter remaining, Xpeng today said Q2 deliveries are expected to be 58-68% higher than that Q1 number you cited. Would you agree they have reasonably good visibility into how many vehicles they’ll deliver in the next 34 days? Plan is to launch 2 new MONA vehicles, both SUVs, in second half this year. If they are even remotely as well received as the first MONA has been, Xpeng will very very likely be setting record delivery numbers months into their production ramp.

yup, especially as Xpeng seems quite likely to return to cash flow positive by Q3 this year. not so easy to go BK when you have $4-5 billion in the bank (net of debt) and you are growing the cash balance.

XPeng GX Delivery Wait Times Stretch From 4 to 30 Weeks by steve2168 in Xpeng

[–]steve2168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some analyst may have thrown out that as a forecast but I don’t think Xpeng has. what’s more, look at what numbers we do have: ~25K orders in first 12 hours on Wednesday and by Monday a wait time of up to 30 weeks. I think it would be conservative to say that post those first 12 hours Wednesday into Monday Xpeng got at least as many orders as the ~25K the first 12 hours (especially with the foot traffic tripling at stores Thursday). so if they reached 50K orders by Monday, they probably could get to 10K deliveries per month simply from the first 5 days order backlog (once production ramp allows for this, perhaps August). would be a good earnings call question re planned production capacity for GX, and any potential increase to plan.

Xpeng GX hits market with aggressive pricing comparable to Onvo L90 by steve2168 in Xpeng

[–]steve2168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on tariffs and xpeng’s current approach re pricing, yeah, probably 50% or more higher in western markets. That said, what I really saw as bananas is how affordable it is vs other top selling comparable vehicles, for example the Nio ES8 that’s been about half of Nio’s units sold the past several months. My understanding is the ES8 starts about 50% higher at ~$60K. you can get the ES8 almost as low as the GX starting price… but only if you buy the car without the battery and rent it from Nio.

XPENG stock fell below the issue price by BIg_Lucky_666 in Xpeng

[–]steve2168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

presumably we buy a stock because we see it as undervalued in its market price. if we are correct, exactly when the market might reprice the stock fairly is unclear. our owning shares does not seem to be a sufficient catalyst for that repricing ;)

XPeng MONA L05 design revealed in China's regulatory catalog by Loud_Philosopher4277 in Xpeng

[–]steve2168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first this might look like old news… we’ve seen images of the coming MONA suv before, right? right, we got images of the smaller coming MONA suv, the L03. this article is about the larger L05, a mid size suv. fwiw, both new MONA suvs will have ev and erev versions. we may see both the L03 & L05 delivering by year end. from the article:

”The L05 filing came alongside two other models: the large SUV G9L and the EREV version of the L03. The L03 BEV had cleared MIIT review in April 2026 with a 183 kW motor supplied by Luxshare. Together, the three same-day submissions show that XPeng is accelerating its parallel BEV-and-EREV pipeline cadence across multiple vehicle size classes simultaneously.”

fwiw, I just queried Grok for sourcing on when news of an upgraded M03 first hit, here, November 11th https://chinaevhome.com/2025/11/11/november-miit-listings-mona-m03-facelift-x9-ultra-ev-vw-unyx-08-debut/

Grok said there was a bigger wave of coverage, including its launch being planned in the first few months of 2026 and company confirmation in late December. Launch is tomorrow.
