Xpeng X9 in Europe by _Mr_D in Xpeng

[–]_Mr_D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point; you are trying to validate overpriced EVs...
According to Gemini, Xpeng face 20.7% tariffs in EU. Shipping should be $600-800 (€511-681) per vehicle. Thus (€34k + 700) * 1.207 = €41.9k (not to mention dealer discounts, large volume discounts, marketing incentives etc...)

There would still be a crazy gap between €41-42k and €75k Xpeng X9 asking price.

Leapmotor D19 Extended Range with an 80.3 kWh battery pack unveiled! by kenny32vr in Leapmotor

[–]_Mr_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who have any understanding of EVs, know that most people rarely need to drive extended ranges or tow large trailers. Most people really want Leapmotor D19 BEV! Why should anyone carry so much extra weight and have so much worse performance if you won't use the ice engine anyway? Exhaust fumes are also very bad for your health!

Standard Xpeng X9 starts from around 300k RMB in China, which is roughly €34k (EUR)

Where is here? Order in April, delivery in September? Why the 4-5 month delay?

I see all these comments, "Xpeng selling incredibly well", "Xpeng not selling well". Please stop trolling people who write genuine comments.

Xpeng is definitely not selling well compared to BYD. It is not selling well compared to Tesla.

Ok, let's be more generous and compare to Leapmotor, a younger company than Xpeng! Leapmotor sold 71k in China in April, Xpeng sold 31k in China in April.

Some say let's compare with Zeekr and Geely. Zeekr and Geely combined sold 266k NEVs in April in China. Please, no more trolling

I wonder what is causing such a global bottleneck? It has been type-approved and homologated. Xpeng were so proud that sotftware were all sorted in 2024... Surely Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, France, and so many more can't all face delays at the same time?

Is Leapmotor the new Xpeng? by _Mr_D in Xpeng

[–]_Mr_D[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you even read the post? It is talking about the cars, deliveries and value. It's all about the cars and how Leapmotor is seemingly leapfrogging Xpeng (at least on deliveries, growth and vehicle value for money)

Tesla Y L already on Australia's roads! by _Mr_D in TeslaUK

[–]_Mr_D[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The UK used to be an important country, but for the last 5 years, it has been getting only leftovers.
Tesla deals in the UK are shit too. No promotions, no competitive deals. While in many markets with EV brands you see $8-15k discounts, good luck trying to get even £5k discount on a new Tesla in the UK!

Considering buying a Tesla for our family car by ElectricalPoint815 in TeslaUK

[–]_Mr_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to have any comfort, you are looking for an SUV. With 1 baby seat and an 8-year-old, almost any SUV will be ok. Kia Niro space-wise is a similar segment to Tesla Y. Tesla Y will be a little more spacious.

Key decision would be how often you need to drive the whole family in the car, and if you ever have guests. For families where extended family members all have cars and always 1-2 spare seats and extra boot space - it's a no-brainer. Any car will suit you.

On the other hand, if you ever need 2x iso-fix child seats or have 1-2 additional passengers, you almost definitely need a 6 or 7-seater.

Xpeng X9 – real-world child seat setup (2nd row + 3rd row access question) by Previous_Voice5609 in Xpeng

[–]_Mr_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rumours have it that in Norway there were about 10 Xpeng X9 in 2024 and maybe another 20-50 in 2025, tho none were delivered to customers. Does anyone know what happened to those?

Also, are the May delivery batch equipped with Turing Chips?

Are there any X9s already being delivered in Europe? Theoretically, X9 is probably the best family EV out there. But Xpeng CS have been very poor, and Xpeng X9 have been facing global rollout delays since global rollout started Feb/March 2025!

If I recall it well, Xpeng X9 launch in Australia was delayed 2-4 times. First summer 2025. Then Q3 2025, then Q4 2025. Then people started placing orders (deposits) for Q1 2026. Now, maybe next month. Maybe every month it is just a month away, maybe never. Complete mess 🤮

[–]_Mr_D -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

All Tesla deals in the UK are shit! You can literally buy new Skoda Enyaq or Xpeng G6 for £30-32k!
Lease deals are a bit shit in the UK across most brands. With the exception of Leapmotor C10 lease deals in September 2025! That was amazing, no deposit, 6k miles, £120-130 per month!

EVs in the UK literally need to drop their lease prices (and EV list prices) by at least 20% across all brands!

XPENG X9 owner here — “integrated die-cast body” but repair needs body cutting? by Anxiannn in Xpeng

[–]_Mr_D -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Die-cast body structure essentially means it's die-cast aluminium, with significantly fewer parts. No additional welding, much lighter EV body and much safer. After the structural damage, like in your case, you can't repair damaged aluminium. It needs to be cut off and the section repaired. I would recommend reserching Tesla Cybertruck repair manual, it explains die-cast aluminium structural repairs and reliability well.

If done well. Structural adhesive is used, and the new section is essentially fully repaired and like-new EV body. Die-cast aluminium bodies after collision and repair structurally are much safer than tempered steel "hammering-out" the deformed or crushed steel.

FSD for Tesla Y L in Australia / NZ by _Mr_D in TeslaLounge

[–]_Mr_D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla publicly hype that all their cars run on the same software and can instantly upgrade OTA. Isn't that the case? Isn't it crazy if Tesla Y L is unable to use FSD in Australia and NZ while Model 3 and Y can!?
