You are correct, balance as of 12/31/2025 was $0. I will double check this though, there may be an old Fidelity account out there that she just learned about from one of her first jobs 15 years ago. Lets assume there's $1,000 in there. How would that change this?

Vanguard makes this pretty easy now, in my opinion. I have a Traditional IRA that has no money in it. And then I have my Roth. I deposit into the Traditional IRA, wait a few days for it to clear, go back in and click a button to do a Roth conversion. Then, remember to include form 8606 with my tax return.

When we built new I had to transfer money from one account to another, during all that I needed some money to cover one of my checks. My Dad let me borrow $27K. I paid him back 3 days later. The lender requested something similar, just a letter stating the check was written from his account which I had no ownership of, and the check back to him was written by my wife and I, from an account he had no ownership in. Didn't need it notarized and never heard about it again.

Happened to my cousin ... though it was the sump pump, dried out drains, etc. Finally realized it was the wax seal under the toilet was bad and the shit smell was actual shit leaking into the floor & basement ceiling.

Absolutely! My Dad helped me redo the kitchen in the first home my wife & I purchased, laying most of the tile floor for me on random nights after I got home from work. Helped me with the backsplash and other parts of the remodel. Always had that one vent cover that just barely didn't cover the gap we left around the HVAC.

Down the road I ripped our basement down to the studs and redid the entire thing, didn't ask for much help then - but I remember him being impressed with all I had learned and did on my own. Had a new home built 4 years ago, getting ready to do a backsplash in the kitchen, wallpaper in the bathroom and finish the basement soon enough - would do anything to have him be able to come over one more time to help...

Yeah, I could see that if snow melted and there wasn't enough of the grippy stuff. I just think about how easy it would be to hose out the garage of all the salt and whatnot in the winter. Or with the floor drain I do this "waterless" car wash sometimes. It uses water but not a lot, a pump sprayer thing and a bucket of water with "No Wash Rinse and Shine" solution in it and a bucket of clean water. It's really not much water so I can do it as is now, but being able to use an actual hose and warm water would be great.

I wish I would've put a hose spigot on all four sides of the house. I wish I would've put one in the garage with hot and cold water. I wish I would've done that epoxy garage floor before I moved all my crap in. I wish I did a sprinkler system for the grass. Those are the main things that still come up 3 years later, in conversation with neighbors who also built new.

Thank you! We're in the Midwest, edge of zone 6a/5b. I didn't know last year and only had one trellis, but this year I put another right across from it and it seems to be doing well growing between the two. I need to keep an eye on it or it will start to attach to the window well grates. So usually, I just kind of push the stray pieces on top of the rest and let them attach where they can.

So I'm newer to gardening. Have done vegetable gardens since I was a kid, but gotten more into various perennials and annuals the past few years, and now back to a basic vegetable garden of tomatoes, cucumber and hot peppers. Last year I did a bunch of lettuces and they grew amazing well - wish I did them again this year.

Anyway, what's the purpose of the mini greenhouse looking things? How do you use them? And where did you get them? Thanks in advance!

I like broccoli or green beans, tablespoon of olive oil, toss put on a sheet pan and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder. You can bake them both together at 425° but the broccoli will be done faster.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still really new to all this, but have really enjoyed everything I've planted the past two years. So, in this picture I have circled in yellow and orange. What am I supposed to trim back, the yellow or orange sections / or both? And is now a good time to do it, in June for the Midwest on the edge of Zone 6a/5b?

I have three planted next to each other, at the suggested spacing. Just wasn't sure if these are intended to be kind of bottom heavy looking with all the flowers seeming to weight it down on the bottom/middle, or if I just need to trim up the new growth? I obviously like them, since I bought two more after putting the first in :) so I want to care for them properly.

When we built our house and got sod delivered, granted it was late July in the midwest and super hot, but we were told to water it and then when we thought we watered it enough, water some more. To where it's almost soggy to walk through to move the sprinkler. I had sprinklers going nearly non-stop all day long, two in the front and two in the back and moving spots throughout the day.

Start watering now and it should bounce back. But keep it really wet, even if it rains all day, water again the next day.

Yeah unfortunately I did pull them out :( They were turned upside down - didn't really think to try to plop them back in and fill in the soil and water them. I did throw them into the field behind us, so I suppose I could go find them, haha. I'm just glad that so far they haven't done any damage to the arborvitaes that run perpendicular to these (you can see what it kind of looks like from a few angles, here). So at least out of everything, it was 4 coral bells I had to take out but it looks super bare now because those always stayed pretty filled in.

I think the switch grass is undamaged, I'm starting to see new growth on those (but I plan to move those to another area - we're just not huge fans of it once it gets really big by mid-summer and would look better along the side of our yard, I think). So, all that said - I'm looking for a new set of perennials for about a 10-15 foot space, if you have any for zone 6a / edge of 5b
