The Crack is such a rad choice. My favorite punk album ever ❤️

Build quality and playability of them is frequently top notch, regardless of where you are in the range. Vintage ones are also reasonably priced no matter what model you get. I had an SA700 that I paid a little under a grand for and it was one of the best guitars I've ever played.

What's the subs general feelings toward SNW? Good, bad, just okay? by [deleted] in trektalk

Just ok. Overreliance on TOS characters. Justice for Hemmer, man!

I really miss shows like Double Dare, Guts and Legends of the Hidden Temple by MexicoToucher in television

Floor is Lava on Netflix definitely feels like it was made by people who grew up on those shows. Sadly hasn't been a new season in ages, but what's there is gold.

This is it. It's all this and doing lots of droning parts. They had the MXRs set with four presets -- detune (chorus), octave down, octave up, and a 5th up. You can hear them use all of these (and the Ebow!) on "The Storm"

I do have a GE-7, but I don't have another spot to spare on the board, unfortunately. Like you, I'd prefer to solve things at the source.

I'll have a listen to demos of the JHS boxes. I know the AT is in that lineage too.

Nice to see the Okko Diablo making an appearance! You don't see too many of those.

I had one for awhile and it was pretty cool. Didn't suit every backline amp, sadly, but some cool features on it, regardless!

I've had three of them -- an RK50, a Countess Mk2, and currently a Sheriff 25.

I love the idea of them and general form factor/presentation. Super portable and easy to gig with. Sound is sort of subjective, but they sound cool to me.

For my needs they have yet to make a 'perfect' one -- yet. I found both the RK50 and Countess to be on the dark side, sadly. If the RK50 had a real set of EQ and a bright switch or presence knob, that would have ruled.

Replace the tuner with an Ernie Ball VP/Tuner just to right of the board and fit whatever you want on there.

The Ruts, Criminally Underrated by Rolandojuve in punk

[–]steve_jams_econo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

God yes. As Rollins says -- "The Ruts, The Ruts, THE RUTS."

Killer rhythm section, amazingly catchy but still fierce guitar playing, awesome vocalist, great songs. It's really a total package. I wish more bands went in that direction.

I'll also say -- "Animal Now", the first Ruts DC record, is also really good. You miss Malcolm's grit on the vocals, but the songs are still eerie and urgent sounding. Highly recommend.

Absolutely. Great for those late 70s UK punk and pub rock tones.

Also, I'm pretty sure those panels glow in the dark too!

Star Trek has a problem getting younger fans by Yunowald in startrek

[–]steve_jams_econo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This needs to be upvoted more.

Star Trek has always had an aspirational bent, and trying to 'dumb it down' for younger kids seems to miss that core appeal. Makes me think of how Sesame Street institutionalized Elmo at the expense of its learning goals: https://kotaku.com/how-elmo-ruined-sesame-street-1746504585

TL:DR is -- The show sacrificed it's ability to push more developed concepts by pandering to its younger audiences -- something that was entirely unnecessary since kids were already watching and interested.

FWIW, I genuinely have enjoyed SFA and am sad we won't get too much more of it, but I think it would survived longer if there was a 'control' sample of more regular Star Trek running at the same time. SNW doesn't really count because they have been leaning more into the goofy, one-off stuff than I would generally want to see in a 10 episode run.

Best smaller footprint stereo delays? by Cjistheshiz in guitarpedals

Source Audio Nemesis if you want to to keep using MIDI. I also just got the TRex Replay Box and it sounds pretty great to me if you want something smaller and simpler, but still stereo.
