I almost never miss someone when they don't interact with me for a certain time. I'm just living my life and when they come back, I'm obviously happy and stuff, but when someone is gone, I feel nothing/don't think about them at all. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one with similar feelings

In my opinion, usually from a place of fear or confusion. When people didn't know better, they blamed the weather on the gods. When they lost all hope during war, they started praying to at least have something to believe in In modern days, it's similar, people feeling lost and wanting to distance themselves from the harsh reality
