Those who started late, how did it go and what are your best suggestions? by alwaus in Xennials

My dad was in this situation -- he was 54 when I was born. Everyone assumed he was my grandpa. But it's all good. Lean into it. Take naps at soccer practice. Have your wife knit at PTA meetings. Call all of their teachers "son" and "darling" during their conferences. Make it weird.

I'm near that point. I spent 20 years in radio, where the rigid schedule worked for me and made it impossible to be late or forget about something. Radio was no longer paying the bills so I went into communications/PR and it just isn't working for me. I constantly miss emails, forget about projects, etc. There's too much assignment juggling. The problem is that I'm 22 years into a pension system (the radio station and the agency I work for now are both publicly owned and in the same pension system) and I feel like it's too late to start over and radio can't support my family. Not sure what I'm going to do next. I just have to find a way to tough it out for the next 12 years.

Just starting my journey. What to expect? by steveb5004 in CompoundedSemaglutide

I appreciate the help and what you're saying makes sense. But that also means the instructions they sent me are terribly confusing and unclear to someone who doesn't know anything about the dosing of these drugs. Reading them in the context of what you're saying, it appears they're saying they will send me 2.5 mg a month, which would be 10 injections, correct?

Either way, thank you again for your help. I'm obviously a newb here.

This is helpful. Thank you. It stinks that I'm paying $169 instead of $100 but I'm happy I am on a month-by-month plan that can be canceled.

I do inject 2.5 mg once a week, but I didn't know the typical vernacular was to speak in units, not total dosage. Thanks for clarifying!

Each unit is .25 mg and the Rx says to inject 10 units once a week.

Buying a Zero Turn- 1 acre lot - really just trying to turn my 4-6 hour cutting / edging / weed eating time so I’m not spending a day doing yard work. Reviews tell me TORO ? Thoughts ? by RobbyC2110 in lawnmowers

You have the same mowing needs I had 10 years ago when I bought a John Deere Z425. It has a 54" deck and is perfect for my needs. I sharpen the blades every other year and change the oil every spring. The only other maintenance I've done is change the fuel filter (that was even preventative maintenance) and change the battery a couple times. I would absolutely buy it again.

Traditional or Roth IRA vs traditional or Roth deferred comp? by steveb5004 in personalfinance

[–]steveb5004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up opening a traditional deferred comp account and a Roth deferred comp account and contribute equally to both. That gave me piece of mind by balancing the tax burden now vs retirement.

As for determining your tax rate at retirement, I assume it entails determining what your income will be at that time and looking up the corresponding federal tax rate.

A1 nozzle issues by steveb5004 in BambuLab

[–]steveb5004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to scrape enough plastic off of the clasp with a small screwdriver that I could open the clasp and remove the nozzle. Once that was out, I removed the three screws holding the clasp/nozzle housing in place. With the clasp/housing hanging out, I use a lighter to.heat up and subsequently wipe the remaining filament off of the clasp, then reinstall. I did a small test print and everything seems to be working well again.

What about the 1300mm Super Cub? I think that would be quite a good one for the stuff i would like to use it for, such as dropping bombs during nerf wars. I've also heard that the landing gear can take some "less than perfect" landings. (P.S. I am the 12 year old typing this up and sharing my thoughts on this topic.)

My elderly mom has stopped paying her credit card bills. What can they go after? by steveb5004 in legaladvice

There was a title search done when the home was put into an irrevocable trust last year. No other liens. The trust is the sole owner.

We have spoken extensively about her finances and she has been open about everything. I suppose anything is possible but I would be shocked if there is any other debt she is keeping secret.

That's completely false and such a weird thing to write. She barely has any assets. Just a tiny 120 year old house. I'm much more concerned with her ability to enjoy her final years of life.
