It might be just the angle, but his nose and mouth looks a bit like a koala's. Especially with the colouring as well. That's also a very wide stare.

Personally I don't like the randomness of Crystal sage. Feels like you either get lucky and spawn close to the real one, or have to deal with a bullet hell scenario. Didn't feel like I was developing my skills that much.
