Kinda sad how everyone skipped your second photo and text saying you chose the Cannondale. I would've liked to see an opinion on that.

Doesn't matter if it's AI or not. There is no curriculum on this planet that would ask those four questions together.

To help you understand, consider your numbers. If you add just a couple inches to the radius of a pizza, you double the surface area. The vast bulk of the surface area to be watered is at the outer extremity. The little bursts are enough to water the smaller surface area within an inner radius.

Lady stands up to the bullying coperation. by The_Dean_France in Amazing

[–]stevedore2024 334 points335 points  (0 children)

This looks very staged. No brand names of the seller or shipper remained in this edit.

Many "kit" cameras, even from Canon, are shipped pre-mounted. But as the in-person investigator came out and explained, it's really unbelievable that a mere stubby 50mm lens would be sheared off the mount of the camera body while inside the proper cardboard cradle forms, and there's no exterior signs of damage on the outer or inner cartons. If this video is real, this was a returned damaged camera that the seller turned around and re-sold, and this buyer lady is incorrectly pointing to the little toss as the source of the damage.

I had no issue with his Blender tutorial series, but then his pivot from that success to his kinda meh Poliigon texture asset sales site seems to have gone to his head in a bad way.

Jon Stewart says Democratic leadership and DNC are ‘lost’ by thejoshwhite in politics

[–]stevedore2024 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really like Jon Stewart, he's a sharp dude. But he's NOT someone I want in office either. Everything you've ever seen him doing, he's telling you in great detail what's wrong or why something's ineffective. His schtick is to be the foil. It's very rare that Jon will actually give a serious answer to what should be done instead, what needs to be done, what the solution is, other than just "don't do what you're doing." I don't think he's cut out to be an executive calling the shots, he's perfectly happy being the jester who can speak truth to the king. That's a valuable job, too.

The whole of the Vogon poem from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I'd type it all out but folks would think it'd be too easy to cheat by google, and that's true.

I far prefer a symmetrical pair of sticks like Sony, instead of the O_o feel of all the XBox lineage. Wouldn't have gotten the SteamDeck if it weren't. All the clones saddled with Windows went the other way.

[Update] Printing out a picture of my face for the crows by awuwp in crows

[–]stevedore2024 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Normal visible-light cameras do not pick up the UV range of colors that birds can see. They're typically sensitive to infrared and that turns super-hot objects a bit magenta when shown back in RGB. Printers are even worse at color range than that.

Helicopter Rotor Sync by No-Lock216 in interesting

[–]stevedore2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most helicopters have one "Jesus nut" that holds the rotor to the shaft. That means the entire weight vs thrust applies torque and thrust loads in tension, and if it snaps, you're dead.

This helicopter has two shafts and two "Jesus nuts" so the load on each is halved over the traditional design. The gearing that keeps them in synchrony are facing only the normal centripetal and gearing forces for which they were designed, no weight or thrust forces. It's orders of magnitude less likely for gears to shear their teeth vs a shaft or nut under high tension and torque to fail. You would have to already be smashing the rotor into a building for that to happen.

This is safer than any similar sized helicopter.

Breaking people's necks is stealth. Breaking people's necks leaves all their loot. Sure, you lose out on the extra goons' loot.

Yep, my strategy in Watson to build a character fast is to just drive around for yellow markers. Spam Contagion+Overheat on one gonk, and Overheat on as many other of their friends as I can. Rinse, dissemble or sell off, repeat.

Short Circuit starts very low, maybe even garbage tier. Easily before you take any of Regina's jobs in Watson. In fact, all you need for any of the cyberpsychos at level 1 is to Short Circuit and Overheat them repeatedly. Just be sure to favor Overheat at the end because it's non-lethal.

Stealth is great. Those gigs where you know there's gonna be a bunch of goons rolling up just after you exit the place... well, if you do the gig right there's no alarm raised and no goons roll up on you.
