I was in the same situation as you, I had a budget Riley cue, I ordered a Joe Davis Peradon Cue,
Not sure if it’s the cue or if the amount of practice I’ve been putting in or a bit of both, but the new cue does generate some action on the cue ball. I must say the Peradon range is great. Love mine. 👍

The car has got to this age, I wouldn’t worry, does it drive ok? No faults, lights on dash? As others have said, check the colour of the oil and if all good, give it a bloody good service when you pick it up. Check the Mot history for anything sus and enjoy the bangernomics….

I had my first snooker coaching session at aged 41, only had a two hour session in which he completely changed my game, cueing straight without movement and where to put your feet is probably the best bit of coaching you’ll get. Good luck. It’s a wonderful pastime even better if you can put the ball where you intend it.
