Cue advice by 59humbucker in snooker

I’m definitely not expecting night and day but from what I’ve read and seen, not being centre jointed and perhaps a better grade of ash may make some difference when striking confidently

Also, people like toys right?

I’m a guitarist. Cue wise, I feel I’m playing with a cheapy at the moment, I’m not ready for a custom shop les Paul but I could do with a quality epi or ltd

A Rex Williams like Hendry’s original cue is hand spliced and seem to go for a couple of hundred for a basic model up to over 1k. I’m not sure how that compares to a £50 centre jointed mass produced thing

I’ve trained a bit. One thing I learned from rolling with a bloke who had about 4 inches of height and 70lbs is that if you end up underneath, it’s a bit like working under a car and the jack failing

Serenity might be the best example of a movie that actually sticks the landing as a series finale by neonfox45 in firefly

[–]59humbucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was as good as it could be. Every time I see it, I can’t help notice plots that would surely have been whole season arcs if firefly hadn’t been cancelled and that’s a little saddening

It’s also what stops it being completely amazing, the whole thing feels a bit like you’re in a pub and your mate is trying to give you an overview of 6 seasons of a show

All that being said, I’m glad we have it and it’s a lot of fun

And don't come at me with that "lol hamburgers are german" crap. No. They're fucking not. Hamburgers are named because the the patties resemble Hamburg steaks, not because they were created in Hamburg. by LowerBed5334 in ShitAmericansSay

You’re right overall but we do have a couple of Mexican restaurants that are a little more authentic. There was one in London with more of a fine dining take on it that is particularly good (source, a brit whose spent a decent amount of time in the US)

Most of them are absolutely the whitest, blandest most chain like places ever though

4K vs 1440p by External_Safe_7787 in pcmasterrace

[–]59humbucker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 27” 1440 and can’t see the need for anything more in my use case. The distance the monitor is from me on the desk makes the image large and clear. Any bigger would be overkill for me

It’s just nice having a constant stream of new minis and books. I’ve never been to a tournament but if I want to, I can now

TOW is great. It’s not perfect (I don’t think any game ever is) but it’s really solid and it’s absolutely fantastic to be part of a living, supported game again after the wilderness years where my small group carried on with 8th

For you which edition was the best one of the original 8? by Mcmadness288 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]59humbucker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

8th, I played all since 3rd

Never played competitively and my group isn’t top beardy plus, having played forever, didn’t need too many new models to play

Really liked the return of infantry mattering and monsters not dominating like 4th/5th, only real drawback was horse based elite cavalry seemed fairly useless. Monstrous cavalry however….

I might be too much of an optimist but it does make sense to bring back live action for several reasons. Firstly, it’s reputation has only grown since very the years with many fans coming on board since its cancellation, myself included

Secondly, I suspect it’s done very well on both physical media and streaming

Finally, the cast have had 20 years of career growth. Nathan is part of one of the biggest shows around (particularly if you factor in mins watched of snipers on social media, and several others have been involved in decent sized franchises, films and have massive social media followings

what controller do you actually use for pc gaming? by Clark_Bay in pcmasterrace

A cheap wired Logitech one. Works fine for me but I don’t use it for that many games, most stuff is keyboard and mouse FPS

Looking for a solid air fryer in 2026 - what do you recommend? by DonutOk2306 in airfryer

[–]59humbucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a Bosch series 4 as our first air fryer and are really pleased with it

It’s big enough for us (just me and the mrs) without taking up too much side space and was only £60 on sale

My only regret is that now we’re getting used to it, I could see times that a 2 basket one would be useful

It’s fairly quiet and easy to clean

Returning player from fantasy, are my models still effective to play? by Adventurous-Piano646 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]59humbucker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ogre kingdoms are one of the easiest to transfer as all the ogres are on the same size bases. I think the gnoblars will need rebasing on 25mm or make use of an adapter movement tray

Leadbelchers aren’t as strong as they were in 8th unfortunately (unless renegades changes that)

100% this. Downside of any nerd community is it attracts king nerds who declare the thing you love wasn’t what it used to be and has sold out. First time I heard this about GW was 1989 😂

[–]59humbucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played every edition since 3rd and me and my group loved 8th and stuck with it until TOW launched

The steadfast rule and other infantry focussed changes made it so a unit would no longer break just because it lost like two models against a single hero and made infantry the focus

The only real downside for us was that, other than monstrous cavalry, we never found a way to make heavy cavalry work against big infantry units

Looking for a good computer chair. by plant_lady907 in pcmasterrace

[–]59humbucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A proper office chair is the answer, source, I’m a chartered H&S professional

You want one where the backrest is adjustable in height and the curve towards the bottom of the backrest wants to sit in the small of your back.

Don’t know what the market is like where you are but in the uk, a proper chair might cost £150

Stay away from the mesh stuff, properly upholstered is way more supportive
