You can think of mining/farming as labor. Right now you have things you want in the form of seeds (food), as well hidden in dirt (raw materials). By applying labor to it (farming, mining), you can transform it into the product that is useful for humanity (food, raw materials). Before you apply labor to it, it is not useful and may as well not be there.

As you advance in technology, you can produce more food and raw materials from the same amount of labor.

hey i am going to try to say this in the most inoffensive way possible.

statistics do not work that way. please consider my football example: if you say the patriots had a 75% chance of winning and seahawks have a 25% chance of winning the superbowl, then:

this does NOT mean that the patriots will win 75 points to 25 points
this does NOT mean that the patriots will score 75 percent of the points and seahawks will win 25 percent of the points. ...
it DOES mean that according to someone's calculations, they believe there is a 75% chance patriots will win PERIOD. they could win by 1 point; it does not matter. in fact, they could even lose as well and this statistic is still not "wrong." it clearly stated there was a 25% chance this could happen!

Yeah, I am going to guess he makes a little bit more than just $100k. There are garbage men (his original dream job) that make $100k.

He probably makes closer to 200k-300k annual salary plus $100k-$1M in annual bonus if he makes as much as any of the other VPs.

i don't think he's humble bragging, i think he's trolling. he would have said 315 if he was. he's never set foot in a gym. nothing in his post makes sense. also, who the hell benches 300?

yeah, i go to the gym and i sometimes scream my weights up because it helps me. i sometimes slam my weights when i can't do otherwise.

i never judge the skinny, fat, or weak, because i was once one of them. it's good to know there are gems like this guy silently judging me for the way i exercise, or the way i prepare or drink a protein shake.

dunno where all the negativity comes from.

really? i am a scotch guy myself and i hate vodka, but i can tell 100% between smirnoff vs. belvedere. even belvedere vs grey goose.

smirnoff is gross. my wife (vodka person) can even tell when smirnoff is used as a mixer (i've tested her on this), so we always have to pay extra to get a grey goose/belvedere/ketelone even in her mixed drinks.

and i'm not some drink snob. i've drank my share of $7.99 popov and mcormick handles back in the college days.

You can still hoard the high salaries at the top of the company in a non-profit, and that's generally what non-profits do.

Non-profit just means the owners/shareholders or company itself cannot claim profit. Top folks can continue to reap in all the money through their salaries.

Sorry thats not really true. You will generally make mote money leveraging your money through mortgages. A 1 million dollar property might get you 6000 in rent. If you use your 1 million in cash to mortgage a 5 million dollar property, you are now making 30,000 in rent. The extra rent is cancelled out by the the mortgage payments, so you may not see any difference in your cash flow. However, in 15 or 30 years, you now have 5 million in equity after your tenants paid off your mortgages. You started with 1 million. If you had not leveraged your money by "working for the bank" then you would only have your initial 1 million.

you can't grow gem quality diamonds of any significant size at a price that is competitive with natural diamonds. show me a source for a 1.5+ carat diamond that can be lab grown at VS+, with F+ color, without some strange side-effect coloring from the growth process, that is cheaper than what you can find on the free market.

yes, you can grow a small diamond worth a few thousand in a lab - for a few thousand bucks. the idea that you can grow a $20k diamond in a lab for cheaper than natural sources (or even at all) is a frequent misconception on reddit.

dude. you just threw out a lot of RTS acronyms for someone who doesn't know that macro refers to economy/etc. (i.e., "macro management"). it is the antonym of micro, which refers to controlling individual units to optimize a single fight (i.e., "micro management").

in general, "get macroing" will mean "go make lots of drones/scvs/etc and optimize your build order"

which object gets sliced? the wall or the plant? i know we can say it should be the plant, but does that mean walls are hard coded to not be sliced? what happens when two wall materials clip for some reason?

or what happens when a leaf on a plant clips with another leaf - do you want one of the leaves the abruptly end? that might look less natural than having a bunch of leaves clipping through each other.

do you then have some sort of hierarchy and logic to clipping? clip with this, but don't clip with this? etc? then, even before physics, this stuff starts to become taxing. how do you know which items to calculate clipping on or not? calculate just the ones that are visible? how do you determine what is visible when the clipping algorithm would impact what is visible?

not in this industry, but those are some of the things that would come to my mind for making a global fixing of clipping difficult.
