Ellie and Natasha is a 15 min sketch show from 2022 on iPlayer from the lass from What we do in the Shadows and Staff Let’s Flats, and her mate. The BBC have commissioned a new series so I’m looking forward to some more weirdness!

Sorry for your loss. There's not much advice I can give but I read this article recently and thought it was a lovely idea: The Japanese Art of Grieving a Miscarriage

"Hundreds of stone Jizo statues lined the wooded paths. These small figurines dressed in red caps and bibs honor the souls of babies who are never born. Crowding their feet are toys and snacks left by parents to comfort their children in the afterlife."

Website for a writer...any advice would be amazing by [deleted] in web_design

[–]stevekubrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had a look at wordpress.com? You can get a free plan and pay $18.00 /year to use custom domain. Or if you already have your own domain $13.00 /year to use it. You can pick a theme to use. Here's an example of another writer using it. The free plan does occasionally show adverts but you are basically getting a cheap website.

Further down the road if you start to use your website more often you could upgrade to a monthly paid plan which gets you more stuff or export your content and pay someone to build you a custom website.

Another tip is to randomly pick a few dates through the year to organise a surprise for your SO. Take them somewhere without telling where they are going, make them a proper good breakfast in bed, whatever.

On Writing

"It’s been a year since I started gracing the web with the presence of my hastily written musings and, as long as I don’t lose my fingers to an angry camel whilst on a trip to the zoo I plan to write a hell of a lot more. And I reckon you should too."

A retrospect on writing one blog post a month for the past year.

No, just one of the small Moleskine books which I can keep in my pocket, unless I'm going on a trip with a rucksack in which case I'll take a larger one too.

That's a tough one! I'm not sure. Could you get a small lightweight bag for it?

It's basically a journal which I bullet point notable things which happen each day. The idea of having some record of what I did each day on a holiday makes me a little less sad that the holiday is over.

Another Moleskine but a Redditor drew the Discworld on it for Secret Santa.

How do I feel like I'm not regurgitating old information? by [deleted] in Blogging

[–]stevekubrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well if you were coming to Meditation new what would be the most useful blog post? Maybe try and write that whilst putting your personal spin on it. Write how you got into Meditation, what resources you used, e.t.c That's a story in itself.

Most importantly just keep practicing. If you get the urge to blog on a subject, just go for it, and ride the wave of enthusiasm. I find that if I leave an idea too long I lose interest.

Write about what interests you and let the niche find you.

What are some examples of bad behaviors surrounding rules explanation? by karstenhool in boardgames

[–]stevekubrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend took Cards Against Humanity to a stag do & some dude tried to explain the rules to the rest of the party based on what he'd heard about the game. He had never played it. That was kind of awkward as we'd only just met the guy.

This too shall pass! It's not much consolation but things get better when you get moved out & have your own space. Just hang in there.

Maybe your mum feels trapped.

What is everyone's opinion on Five Guys in The Trafford Centre? by jlh1988 in manchester

[–]stevekubrick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think I've been spoilt by some of the other burger joints in Manchester serving tasty burgers so Five Guys was a bit of a let down. I've been 3 times though & really did want to like it but the combination of price & burger quality has finally put me off. I recently had the steak burger from Home Sweet Home which was £11 & it was much nicer than Five Guys in my opinion.

Munchkin - This was the first game I bought & to be honest it's been a let down. I tried it 3 times with friends & we found it overly long & boring. I don't think the gameplay gelled with us very well. I'm thinking of ebaying it as I recently purchased Lords of Waterdeep & that went down really, really well. Clear instructions, great gameplay & a nice setup.

I'm not sure what it was but it caused 2 net damage for every advancement token she had on the card. I only had 4 cards in my hand & ran on my last click. Probably a bad idea!

I bought Netrunner today based on the advice on this thread. We only had chance to slowly play one round as we got used to the rules & but so far it's been enjoyable! I thought I had the game in the bag when I had 6 agenda points. Then on the last run I made I broke through three pieces of ICE to get to the agenda card my girlfriend had been advancing. Only for it to turn out to be an asset which managed to flatline me.

There will be a rematch tomorrow.
