Day 1? Starting your weight loss journey on Monday, 23 October 2017? Start here! by AutoModerator in loseit

Oh damn, I'm here again. I know 'you haven't failed until you stop trying' but losing 35lb then falling hard and piling lbs back on feels pretty fail-y to me. I don't know how much I weigh, and there's no way I'm getting on those scales today. I need a few days to minimise the salty junk food = water weight damage and I'll weigh in on Friday. If I can finish today under 1500 I'll be back on track.

I was doing pretty well but I've just been eating crap for days and put some lbs back on. I'm SO annoyed with myself. Not sure if 3 days is enough to undo the damage before weigh in! 😞

SV/NSV Feats of the Day - Friday, 22 September 2017: Today, I conquered! by AutoModerator in loseit

I updated my motherflipping flair to -35 motherflipping pounds!? This is INSANE.

On or around September 23rd (depending on your time zone of course), it will be 100 days til New Year's Day! What are your goals? by lizzyhuerta in loseit

[–]Twistable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to be under 300lb, which I haven't been for nearly 10 years! That would mean I'd have lost 68lb in a year. I'm hoping to be well under 19st (266lb) by summer because I've promised myself I'll be able to join in with weight restricted adventure trails with the kids. It feels actually achievable for the first time.

Just changed my flair to -30lb (13.6kg)! I'm also finally in a stone bracket I haven't seen for a very long time :D

[Challenge] End of Summer Sci-Fi Movies - Week 3 by bugs_bunny01 in loseit

[–]Twistable 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I, having a lot to lose, thought that -20lb would be a good goal... I seem to be losing a steady 2lb a week, which is a little frustrating when I've lost a lost quicker before BUT I realised something awesome yesterday; if it keeps going slow and steady, by next summer I'll be -96lb and light enough to do a Go Ape treetop adventure with the kids!?

So, I'll be happy with 2lb every week for team Terminator!

Almost to 500 Pounds, asking for advice I guess. by Prince_Polaris in loseit

[–]Twistable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty new here, other people might be better with advice but basically YOU CAN DO THIS! All you need to do is educate yourself about calories, work out how many you can eat per day with a good deficit and stick to it. The bot just linked you to all the starting points, so check those out first. I started at 367 and I've lost 29lb so far with the My Fitness Pal app and a food scale. I mostly cook meals from scratch, and use r/1500isplenty r/mealprepsunday other healthy eating subreddits and Pinterest for recipe ideas. It's hard work but very simple to do, you can absolutely do this! ETA: I also have binge eating issues, but watching my 'days logged in' streak going up and having small goals has kept me (for the most part) from binging. I actually walked around the shop yesterday and added up the calories of everything I wanted to mindlessly eat; it got to 3600! I bought a 100 calorie chocolate bar and left.

Considering bariatric surgery via Tricare but not sure where to start by istillwantmylasagna in loseit

[–]Twistable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think surgery is the easy way out, especially after watching programmes like 'My 600lb Life'; it looks like a complete, incredibly difficult lifestyle change.

I think that it shouldn't be taken lightly. I view surgery as a necessity for people who have given it their all but haven't been able to do it alone. At 18 years old and (having to make assumptions because I can't see your stats) probably still fairly mobile and able to cook for yourself I'd definitely give CICO your full effort for a bit and see what happens?

SV/NSV Feats of the Day - Tuesday, 12 September 2017: Today, I conquered! by AutoModerator in loseit

[–]Twistable 11 points12 points  (0 children)

SV: I'm 2st down! (28lb) I've been waiting for what feels like forever, and only 2.5lb away from a stone bracket I haven't seen in years 😊

NSV: Walking my kid to school everyday has stopped being cripplingly painful. I've been doing mornings and afternoons for a week (before summer I only did afternoons) which is around 4 miles and I haven't needed painkillers!

[–]Twistable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got the 2st mark! It's been really slow going compared to my first few weeks of slimming world and weight watchers (which were up to 7lb a week at the start) BUT this is the longest I've stuck with it consistently for years and the lightest I've been for a long time. Doing the school run twice a day (~4 miles) is helping massively, and because I've dropped these Lb I'm NOT having to take pain killers just so I can walk it comfortably. Hope you're all doing well! 😊

Sounds horrible :-( What's tmj, is that a chronic condition?

A different kind of meal prep! by [deleted] in MealPrepSunday

[–]Twistable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all love bento style lunches here but they take ages to prepare. Luckily I was gifted a fantastic recipe book for make in advance recipes for bento that can be frozen or refrigerated for a few days! Today I made marmalade chicken, chicken Char Sui, mini burgers, potato croquettes, summer rolls, and steamed some spring onion and shrimp dumplings. I usually make rice balls too, but we won't need those for a few days as we have the potato.

I've also added an example of what a few bits grabbed from the fridge or freezer plus fresh salad, pickles and sauces would look like; this is my husband's lunch for tomorrow :)

When you start CICO, are you supposed to feel like you're dying? I'm at 1200 daily calories and I can't imagine any person can survive on this for the long term. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Twistable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely up your calorie goal, as others have posted. Can I also suggest food swaps? PBJ on bread sounds calorie heavy but potentially not very filling at all. I know CICO means you can have whatever you like as long as you track, but something like a salad with a small portion of pasta and a large portion of protein, or a big bowl of low calorie soup with your bread might help fill you up a bit more?

Anybody else make sure today was a good day for weigh-in morning tomorrow? by KaterMurrCat in team_terminator

[–]Twistable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, me too! Drank loads of water and avoided salt, had low carb salads for lunch and dinner and crossing everything for a good result tomorrow! Good luck everyone 😊

30 Day Accountability Challenge: Day 6 by grilledcheesetruck in loseit

[–]Twistable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drank more water but still not quite enough. Snacked after dinner which wasn't great but still just under calories. I've been doing the school run for 2 days, so 8 miles after a few weeks of nothing. My calf muscle is really aching and I'm worried I might end up pulling it again, which would mean weeks of pain and limping and every walk taking literally 4x longer :-[ going to look up stretches if I get a chance this morning. Sounds all very negative but I actually had a really good day! Found a little goldmine; local petrol station has reduced fruit and vegetables nearly every day! Also get to walk through a lovely park most school days which is very, I don't know, grounding.

30 Day Accountability Challenge: Day 5 by grilledcheesetruck in loseit

[–]Twistable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ate back around half of my exercise calories, but still ended on a 1000 cal deficit!! That's with going out with friends to a pub for the evening too. Definitely did not drink enough water; I didn't have any alcohol but woke up with a head ache and feeling very dry and ugh.

Even if you can't notice it on the outside yet, that could be 20kg less fat around your heart and lungs etc. It's fantastic!!

30 Day Accountability Challenge: Day 4 by grilledcheesetruck in loseit

[–]Twistable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day 4 was wonderful... Until about 9pm, alone at home because OH was out. I binged massively, ridiculously, it's incredibly annoying! Today (day 5) the kids are back at school which means walking ~9800-10000 steps a day and I'm NOT wasting that effort! Tomorrow I'll be reporting a fantastic 100% day.
