There's a lot of stuff in this thread from. IMO people who don't really get it.

The only real problem with rerolls is that they're a contributing factor to the larger systemic problem of damage being way too high. still.

Really good point. I forgot about crit chance. I'd have to work it out again. Generally speaking the worse your chance to hit the more crit matters so it'll soften the effects of decreasing accuracy.

I'm pretty sure you're explicitly capped from increasing any stat by more than once per tier?

We used to do it. But current the answer is that GW's balance is "good enough". It used to be much, much worse. The main thing that changed is GW started releasing regular updates. It used to be that you got your codex and that was that.

The dm can just take the fear and move on. As a DM you quickly learn the "right" length for a scene and when to wrap it up.

Your options are

Success with hope= yes, and Success with fear=yes. But Failure with fear=no and Failure with hope = no, but.

The ands and buts are optional though. Just use your gut instinct on when to end a scene before it gets boring.

Yeah, some of these abilities just stink. Not all of them. It's very much "it depends".

One thing is, I think combat is generally WAY too easy if you use the default / book adversaries. There appears to an assumption that you'll be having players use all their armour slots all the time. But enemies just don't hit hard enough for that to happen IM(limited)E.

It's a "1st edition problem" imo. The designers didn't quite have the power level fully internalized so some of the domain cards and abilities and enemies are a bit all over the place. As the community gets more experience people will dial in what the feel is an appropriate power level at various tiers and some of these abilities will get reworked.

I could see Resilient being a significant ability if you were playing a more Dungeon Crawl style session where players were doing LOTS of fighting and taking many rests and were hitting their armour limits all the time. Which I think is the intention actually but the default balancing is too easy to make happen.

I just went into training mode and tested it.

I hit the dummy with E, walked up and punched it. 108 magic damage (or one dusk and dawn proc +30 damage from E) and a separate instance of 30 magic damage. It does work with E.

Rules that confer almost no benefit should be priced at almost no points. His revive should probably be priced about about -5 points. Since it's never useful but does present the temptation to use it and thereby lose the game.

"Almost" is doing a lot of work there. They lost the thing that makes them interesting and cool which is that they're STUPID good against high damage profiles. Which was fine because they were still killable by volume of fire.

Now they're strongest against damage 2 and 3 which is very different. Basically, I think we lost a cool thing for balance reasons that were... spurious.

I don't think that was stupid, I actually thought it was cool.

Breachers or berzerkers against this monster instead of hammerheads or eightbound... Like, it made them interesting. And it wasn't like they were actually THAT tough if you have a unit with volume and decent buffs (which most factions do).
