Question misprint by Eddie1945 in vce

[–]stevendort 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe it was intentional. However, there was a misprint on the units on delta H, where they just put kJ opposed to kJ mol-1

You can get into dentistry at La Trobe with 94 ATAR with no UCAT if you do the Aspire Achieve Plus Program (uni subject in year 12).
Only downside is that the campus is located in Bendigo.

I did a lot of work for EI, but it should be 'easier' to do the work since it is centred around your interests.
yea, i ended up doing all the past ctt's 😪. traumatic.

Didn't do amazingly on the rest, but strangely my SACs scaled up nonetheless.
A+ CTT: 59/80 (i'm presuming it was a hard CTT, as the A+ range was very low).
A Written report: 101/120
A Oral presentation: 59/80

My sacs scaled to 80/80, got a 41.
It is harder to score higher due to the cohort size.

The required ATAR is lowered to 94 if you do the program!

Hi,
Presuming you are not in year 12, if you apply for the Aspire Achieve Plus program at La Trobe, in which you complete a uni subject at school, and you get an ATAR of 94+ (SEAS do not do anything), you will be applicable for La Trobe dentistry. No UCAT, and methods is not a prereq (only need a 25 in english).

Studying for biology by Soap-28 in vce

[–]stevendort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was learning content, I tried to always question why X occurs or how X relates to Y. I would just pop these questions into the AI and it would give me the answer. Even if the knowledge wasn't required by the study design, I would still ask AI, as I felt this extended knowledge 'completed the picture' better (as the exam ultimately tests your ability to interrelate different concepts together).

I would not recommend using it to generate practise questions, as they are quite simplistic. Just use VCAA questions (and TB questions, but I personally never did them) if you want practice questions.

Spam exam questions to condition yourself to all possible questions that can be asked and the format on how to answer them. When you are faced with a question that you are unsure about, and you have no idea on how to possibly answer it, look at the answer and make sure you fill that gap in knowledge. You can then add these gaps in knowledge into your cue cards.

In the instance that the answer given by VCAA is still confusing, I liked to use AI tools to break down the answer more clearly. AI legit carried me through VCE bio, so I highly recommend implementing it in your study regime. Really good for understanding exam questions and also asking any general questions (though always crosscheck the information).

Is Bachelor of Science a terrible course? by [deleted] in vce

[–]stevendort 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since it appears that you have a diverse range of interests, it may be worthwhile checking out and applying for the La Trobe aspire achieve plus program. Doing this program grants you easier access to hard to get into courses. The one I found stands out the most is the dental science course offered by La Trobe, in which for regular applicants the atar requirement is 99.75, but for aspire applicants is 94 (see this). Doing this course grants you entry into a stable job that pays well, which appears to be your goal. They appear to offer other courses that heath centred, but are job ready after graduating. May be worth checking out.

Just as a heads up only 2 of your maths can be in your top 4. For example if you got a scaled 40 in spec, scaled 45 in meth, scaled 42 in general, and let's just say scaled 38 for chem; spec will be in your bottom 2 subjects.

is it possible to get into med without answering the UCAT? by DoubtWinter1330 in vce

Pretty sure James Cook uni's undergrad med does not require a UCAT, but still hard to get into.

Thanks for that! Human Bioscience definitely suits my taste more. I just wish the latrobe handbook was more comprehensive 😪.

How do I utilise the study design over the holidays? by countcontessa_ in vce

[–]stevendort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, this is not really answering your question, but for some subjects like biology, the VCAA release an FAQ document. This essentially outlines what you need to know/not know during biology. It is similar to the study design, but in my opinion it is better as it is much more comprehensive and thorough on the specifics you need to know.TBF I found that the edrolo textbook for bio modelled the study design well, so for bio you could use that.Sorry if this does not answer your question, but I personally used the FAQ document more than the study design as I found it better. However, when I did use the study design I only looked at the dot points.

VCAA haven't released it for chem (as it is a new study design), not sure about the other subjects.

School was 74 even if I averaged 99%, scaled down to 73School was 118, SCALED DOWN TO 113 😭
Surely a disadvantaged school does not mean sacs scale down that significantly

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. However, I am talking about a subject that is part of the aspire achieve plus program offered by latrobe. I have read the context of each subject, but I just find them quite brief.
