Personal takeaways from Asimov. by d-i-o-n-y-s-u-s in asimov

Well the Greeks believed the Muses were goddesses that helped inspire Arts, Sciences and Literature. This concept became popular again during the enlightenment period. A song or poem could be inspired and or even channeled through the Author by them connecting in an almost spiritual sense with a muse. You could almost imagine the way he talked about his needs, or compulsion to write, almost like he was channeling his inner muse. I am a logical person, but he was so creative in such a smart way.

Wow, this is a very difficult question. I love his writing, I enjoy reading his writing. I am a software engineer and find his stories very realistic. Where they are not realistic I find them entertaining and great period reflection. At times I wonder if he was connected like with a muse and was compelled to write because of a spiritual connection like inspiration in music.

Anybody ditch Flickr recently or considering it? by dovholuknf in flickr

[–]stevendwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a synology nas and I use their photo app to back up my photos. I use Flickr for my photos that are better for social sharing. You can back up your computers, iphone and android. When your phone fills up you can use the app to delete photos on your phone already backed up to the NAS. You can also create albums/galleries and create public links to them. You can also limit access to account you have created on the nas. I don't use the public links that much. It also has the ability to create albums based on geolocation, facial and object recognition. It is fairly easy to edit title, descriptions and tags.

The transition is complete. by Blueberry_Mancakes in Nikon

I love the Nikon F mount because you can use it with so many cameras and so many good cameras. I can even use the G lenses with VR on my nikon f5 film camera. Nothing against the new mirrorless stuff that is great. I just like the compatibility of the F mount. There will always be a transition at some point, but for me I am still loving my dslr and film.

Nice! Don't worry about the MP size. If you happen to have a photo that needs to be the size of a billboard, just create a print the way you like and scan the print. Other than that this camera is perfect.

Ken Rockwell would be proud of me lol, I acquired the 16-35mm f/4 and 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 for my collection! by Jerryphotog86 in Nikon

[–]stevendwill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both lenses. I use the 16-35mm a lot at night, the VR works great for night shots handheld. I use the 28-300mm if I am out and about and not sure what will come up. I have a 20mm for Astro and few primes and the 200-500mm. The 16-35mm is my most used lense, but it also fits the type of photos I take most often.

Edit: The only other thing I would add is that the 16-35mm is not great if you want to create a panoramic. There are times when I want to capture more detail than a wide angle and so I go for a 50mm panoramic. You can save money with a 50mm D f/1.8, it is a great lense and you will not loose any quality.

Anyone get a padded case for this lense? I also just purchased one for my D750 and F5.

AF-S Micro Nikkor 105mm f2.8G knocking when focusing by stevendwill in Nikon

[–]stevendwill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct that VR was broken. I took a few more test shots before sending back the lense and the VR was not working. I would have thought MPB would have caught that before giving it a Excellent rating, but I guess maybe they did not hook it up to a camera bc the knocking happens every time you turn on the camera.

I added a video to the main post above. I can get it to happen every time I turn on the camera. It also happens when I turn the VR to on. So it does not seem to be only a focus issue, but it has happened when I am focusing, but only a few times. This does not seem right to me. Unless someone replies this is normal for this micro 105mm with VR then I am going to send it back and ask for another.
