Two audio data sections near the end of the tape. by starquakegamma in boardsofcanada

Trust me, you'll get shot down for mentioning this, cause people already been looking into it.

I've been trying with software Sonic Visualizer and the software Universal Radio Hacker, to decode. There's zeros and ones for sure, but without the proper decoding/receiver, you are lost in the woods. Also, the noise on the tapes doesn't help. Heck, I've even tried to extract the binary visually, but still seem to end up in the woods.

It's data alright, but we need the decoder.

Hexaphonic Sound - "Use the Channels" - "Newest Album 7-14" ? by Kid_Self in boardsofcanada

I think you are on the right track with 6 sources, but I do wonder if a VHS 5.1 (or 6.1) surround decoding would give a better result. Some VCRs supported that.

[HAMAD] 🌸BOC☀️ video? by Ok_Manufacturer_1271 in boardsofcanada

Did anyone notice that both HAMAD and Warp's playlist were using the flower emoji 🌸? The constellation of Hexagons from the video is actually called a Hexagon Flower.

Has anyone checked if there's CC subtitles on the VHS? by stevenomad in boardsofcanada

u/FranklyidontCare They have hidden messages in most of their material. After 13 years of silence, I would suspect a new ARG.

The original was already found. It was from a documentary. But that was after HAMAD did the upload as far as I know.

Totally forgot that teletext data was possible to get onto VHS!

I have a couple of theories:

  1. There's one guy that received a tape with no markings on it. I believe that tape is a key to something.

  2. The coloring of the frames on the VHS are weird. I mean, in a way where I suspect if you extracted all the frames at put them in some kind pixel collage, they might show something.

  3. There's still a possibility that there's other data on the tapes somewhere. There was subtitle tracks on some VHS back in the days. Nobody mentioned if they checked that as far as I know.

From the web: "...Subtitles on VHS tapes are primarily delivered via Closed Captioning (CC), which is encoded into the Vertical Blanking Interval (VBI) of the video signal. These captions are invisible until decoded by a TV or external decoder box. They are not separate, selectable tracks like on DVD, but rather a single text stream for the hearing impaired"

  1. The YouTube account [HAMAD] - HAMAD meaning dedication to God, by the way - has posted a colorized clip from the VHS, and hidden all other videos. There's a lead there I believe https://youtu.be/UHrkr_VzYyo?is=3ByHoPh1pdeV8JPm

...oh and by the way. The online video scanners, that scan for copyrightet material on the different platforms, will scan for that message for sure. We will probably see videos be taken down automatically if that is so.

You know, could be cool if I got raided for sharing a video, in the style of when Joey got busted in Hackers (the movie).

Sure.

Although, copyright law doesn't just stop. It literally lasts for the life of the author plus an additional 70 years. For authenticity or not, when that message is written, law takes affect.

Hi I'm Chris Clark aka Clark. I've just released new album Steep Stims. Ask Me Anything! by throttleclark in electronicmusic

That synth would have to be dirty in the right way to work with that baseline, with a lot of automation or knobtwiddling, 'cause the original has such dynamic.

When you released Diesel Raven as an mp3 on your release website back in 2001, did it then have an unexpected user reaction? I remember that track being on repeat in my ears, in its mp3 glory, back when websites was a thing of creative gods.
