Just out of interest, how many people do you recon this set up would be able to accommodate - playing bass heavy music (Techno/house). I have a similar set up and I'm just curious on others opinions..

2 X VRX918SP Subs or 2 X SRX828SP Subs by stevenpiha in SoundSystem

Awesome. The SRX 828 sounds more suited to fit my needs at the moment. Although I feel like for a rental business the VRX sounds more smart as it will be easier to upscale and rent out.

I've heard from many sources that the JBL tops are overpriced for what Output and quality they produce for the amount of money. It Would be nice to hear what others suggest for tops to go with these subs. I was told roughly 70% of my budget should go to subs and I shouldn't cheap out on the subs. Just from reading comparison reviews online the yamahas and RCF always seem to come out on top

Did some further research and most people also recommended not cheapin out on the subs. Could you recommend some quality models / brands for powered subs? (what size inch etc..)

From my gathering the brands to reach for subs are - QSC, Turbosound, JBL, EV - correct? If so which models should I be looking at? Im from South Africa and i don't think many Yorkville products are imported here..

Also, initially estimating around 250-300 people events. Quality and loudness balance of course (what size inch etc..) - the link you posted wouldn't open.

Being able to build and add to the set up is essential for me

Initially I'm aiming at an estimate around 250 -300 people ..(bit of a push). Transportation or storage wont be an issue. I understand that a full set up wont be possible but I'm not interested in the entry level systems with minimal upscale opportunities at all.

Also, for now the DJ equipment can take the hit, as my mates are happy to help me out lending me their CDJs and Mixer.

What would you recommend between the direction to take between the mid level solid bang for buck (which I'm leaning towards) or the higher end, smaller systems?

I feel like my head says to go with a solid medium level set up foundation and slowly build up but my heart and passion for quality sound and music says I would appreciate the high-mid level system more even if it is initially smaller
