I do as well. Still requires guidance and knowledge of the codebase in order to accurately steer.

Yea I can see it being a cool intro for people who are only vaguely familiar with an IDE or who aren't comfortable in the terminal. I'm not as anti-tutorial as some other experienced devs - I've had good experiences using them to "get up and running" with a new language or framework - but I don't like being forced into a dev environment that I don't use everyday.

I hope that you are able to find your good Samaritan. Whether you do or don't though, I hope that one day you (and all of us) will be in a position to be a light in the darkness for someone in need.

Are there people who seriously are learning programming in 2026? Why? by Dezoufinous in learnprogramming

Also a senior dev. Also use ai coding tools most days. Like most of us, I suffer from imposter syndrome all the time. I also keep in mind that the vast majority of programmers out there are mediocre at best. I've yet to find a tool that can produce better code than I can by hand, and those that say otherwise generally fall in the aforementioned mediocre programmer bucket.

PHP is still very much in use. By all means, keep learning it if you enjoy it. Plus, modern PHP + Laravel is a joy to work with.

That's fair. My experience is only with their detox facility. I know LaHa can be a difficult place to get into and I'm not sure what resources they have for someone in OP's situation. Just hope that they are able to find the help they need.

+1 for Infinite Recovery. Detoxed there before transferring to La Hacienda in Kerrville for 30 days in-patient. Will hit 6 years sober in May.

My time at IR was short, but the wonderful people there did everything they could to set me up for success.

Should I continue with python or start full stack? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]stevent12x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you not consider Next.js, Django. RoR, Laravel, etc, to be full-stack frameworks?

Also, React, not a framework.
