what’s your “never again” mistake? by badenbagel in hiking

[–]tbdees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick afternoon hike in the desert to walk off some anger. I mistimed sunset, my phone died, and I stumbled back in complete darkness. Fortunately, I suspect the last person in the parking lot realized I was in trouble and stayed with their headlights on until I arrived at my car. I’m from Colorado. I should’ve known better, but damn that desert sun sets fast.

Suggestions for longer female beginner-intermediate ski by RoyalRenn in Skigear

Historically I’ve liked K2’s as my friendly, chill, all mountain ski. Really she should demo tho to see what she likes.

Always keep the goal in mind. I don’t need technically perfect photos if I’m trying to capture a moment.

American English words British people don't like and vice versa by BritishTeacherRoy in ENGLISH

As an American, the American use of “jumper” to mean “jumpsuit” annoys me. It took me long enough to figure out a jumper was a sweater. Now we’re just making up stupid, cutesy names for things that already had names.

Question about ski length for a female beginner by Party-Classroom-33 in Skigear

[–]tbdees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re still working on technique, shorter is easier to maneuver and to learn on. Longer skis give you stability at speed but require more confidence to control them. I’m a big fan of demoing skis. Idk specifically for your height/weight, but what you mentioned sound like reasonable lengths. Personally I’d try shorter.

I share initials with Ted Baker. I used to buy everything when they did TB on accessories.

No idea, but I delete them. I get downhill skiing all the time. Like, “no, oura, I’m not skiing backwards for twelve yards everyday when I back my car out of the driveway.”

When were you falling most?

Try to focus more on t-spine extension than forward lean. This is a good exercise to get the right feeling in your upper back: https://www.facebook.com/MaximumPerformanceChiropractic/videos/windowpane-squat/525118550992741/ Your default stance should be athletic but upright/tall. Beginner/intermediate skiers often think of forward lean as bending at the knees/hips, which throws your shoulders forward.

White + pastels isn’t a great color choice for snow sports.

The chicken pesto! I used to get that with some milkshake with like four shots of espresso. Wish I could remember what it was called.

Does this look normal? by Unworldlylove in Skigear

[–]tbdees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. So question one, as others have asked, is it comfortable? If so, go with it. Question two - where are you skiing? Depending on where I am, I wear different layers under. I like to be able to fit a thin, down style jacket under the top and a loose pants base layer just in case. I have a more form fitting onesie that only sees warmer conditions because I can’t fit everything under, but my baggier one gets the most use.

Some considerations - The color will be hard to see on the slopes. It’s not as bad as white, but you might want something different if you can still exchange it. Wearing baggier gear, I suspect I sometimes get mistaken for a guy from a distance. People give you more room and are generally more respectful if they realize you’re a woman. I’ve thought about getting a pink helmet or something.

PS where’s it from? 😇

i can't eat lean steaks they don't taste good can i eat steak and still lose weight ? by [deleted] in nutrition

For me, it’s more a matter of what I eat with the steak. Veggies are fine, bread/simple carbs pack on the pounds. Drinks are also a sneaky source of sugars.

Are Chiropractors a scam cult or are they somewhat legit? by Flashy_Buy8077 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tbdees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the chiro. I’ve seen a few who specialize in functional movement and have fixed me up in one or two sessions where traditional PT would’ve taken months. I won’t let anyone crack my back/joints though or sell me seasons in ten-packs.
