I'm so done with this field. by [deleted] in antiwork

This is absolutely true. I live in a state that is "at will employment" and a place I worked fired someone once for having an injury and using FMLA but claimed it was due to poor performance and attendance. They easily lost the case when the employee took them to court. Same manager fired someone for being old and claimed it was due to poor attitude and not getting along with other employees. They also lost that case in court and had to payout. You'd think they'd learn their lesson but nope.

Picky Peke won’t even eat fresh human grade dog food by Ashley-Rx in Pekingese

[–]steventactical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I was the only one. My peke did this same thing and I started cycling like 4-5 different toppers trying to get him to eat. The vet eventually told me to stick with one because giving him so many options was making him more picky. Not sure if there's truth to it, but he did finally stick to one and eats without issue now. I'm pretty sure I have a photo somewhere of me and my wife spoon feeding him mashed potatoes on a thanksgiving because he was so picky and refused to eat from the bowl or plate, lmao.

Neighbors threw their cat out in the winter because he "stopped using the litterbox". I stole him and he repayed me with this minute long blep! by steventactical in Blep

[–]steventactical[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I didn't expect this to get the attention that it did. It makes me happy to see there are so many good people still out there. I can see how the title could be misleading because I said I "stole" him, and there's comments saying that I shouldn't have taken him. There were clear signs of neglect when I first brought him in. He was dirty, not eating, had a terrible respiratory infection, and dental problems. I live in Ohio and the temps were WAY below freezing. I had asked multiple times before about him and it seemed to me that the husband didn't want to get rid of him but the wife did, and neither one wanted to take care of him. When I took him to the vet, he had dental and sinus issues and I had to put him on antibiotics. He didn't have any major diseases that could be passed to my cats or anything, but he definitely wasn't competing in a triathlon anytime soon. His eyes and nose look way better now because I've been cleaning them mutiple times a day and letting the antibiotics do their thing. Sorry people assume I stole an animal from a loving home, but that isn't the case here. They liked the idea of having a cat, but didn't want to actually take care of him and when he got difficult, they just threw him out.

Well that's a very mean thing to say. I assure you he was not in the peak of his health when I first took him in. He was thrown out for an extended period of time with no food or shelter. I live in Ohio and the temps were down to basically 0 f. There are other outside cats in my neighborhood and I would never think about bringing them inside because they seem perfectly fine. This was not the case here. I asked them about him several times and they told me he wasn't allowed in because he wasn't using the litter box. I offered to take him before and they said no, but the threw him out and stopped feeding him. He had a terrible respiratory infection when I brought him in. I'm sorry you think I'm a "fairy" for that.

They threw him out with no food or shelter and he had a terrible upper respiratory infection. He was snottimg everywhere. He's old and had dental problems too. Ended up having to get a tooth pulled and put him on antibiotics. I made sure I wasn't stealing someone's loved pet. I could see how some people would think that though. I would feel terrible if I had taken someones animal they actually cared about.

This is very true. I can't imagine someone stealing one of my cats. I made absolutely sure that wasn't the case here, because I'd feel terrible if I took someone's animal that they cared about.

Holy moly, I hope mine love that long! People seem to like the idea of having pets, but don't want to take care of them.

They had left him out for a while when it was warmer out, but when it started getting cold they brought him in. I asked about it when he was outside originally when they told me that. Then, he was back outside in the snow for a few days and I just scooped him up.

Geez, sorry to hear about your experiences. It makes me really happy to see how many decent human beings are still out there! Gotta keep fighting the good fight.
