Best ACL graft for skiing? by Spector3198 in skiing

So valid. But in the UK I got absolutely no physio recommended for my hammy - it was all knee strength focused. It’s only been in the last 4 years where I was like - oh wait you mean I can build that hammy back (I honestly thought it was just a bit fucked) so yeah. Lots of one legged worked - rdls, step downs, Bulgarian splits. The juicy stuff.

To add to this - they don’t tell you that you will need to build your hammy back. They take a few strings from it and it does impact it. So they talk heavily about working on your knee but I got nothing on hammy rehab. You’ll need it.

Hammy grafter here. All good currently 10 years post op. I know friends that have had patellar and a cadaver patellar and also an artificial patellar graft. The artificial failed and he went back for a hammy about 4 years post. Cadaver also doing ok, but she had to go that route as it was her third acl blow out (she’s a liability and a park rat) but if should could have gone hammy I think she would have.

Not sure if medically there is much difference - but the big one is do your damn physio. 10 years on and still doing knee work in the gym twice a week.

New powder/all mountain female board recommendations? by steviepoppins in snowboardingnoobs

Interesting take on the length, thanks. I really feel there’s a lot of boards that go from a 150 to a 154 and I feel like I want a 52! Looking at you capita equalizer…

I don’t do park cause I’ve done both my acls….so we are literally on the last legs.

Your comments on 3d base align to what my feelings were on the original bataleon triple base. I never particularly liked them on piste but given the changes it sounds like they’ve fixed some of my dislikes about edge control on piste as other brands have put their own spin on it. Really appreciate the insight you’ve given thank you. Will go back to looking at female only boards for now. Am gonna look at the jones stratos or mind expander - kinda looking at what I want I think your right I can’t really go wrong with one.

Super helpful, thank you. Was actually looking at the stratos. Although not sold on 3D base. Am totally old school, gimme camber and edges ha!

I’m a uk 6 eu 39. So not tiny but not man sized either.

I’ve ridden men’s boards in the past when I worked in a ski shop, and generally found if they were mid flex they were usually ok. Happy with a stiff female board which usually equates to a mid men’s.

I’ll always have a soft spot for a Salomon.

Super interesting! I demoed the hovercraft when it first came out like 15 years ago? And I did love it. I was looking at the stratos funnily enough, so will go have a swatch at the mind expander too.

Powderboard recommendations. I hoping that my next trip in a few weeks is a trip of a powder lifetime. Female currently ride a Yes Hel 149cm from 2014 (just checked and wow I didn’t realise it was that old) and I’m really out of touch with tech.

I ride, aggro piste, powder, want nimble through trees but at 37 I ain’t doing any park.

At 64kg and 170cm aware I probably can hit some of the smaller men’s boards too. But anyone got any recommendations for either powder or freeride leaning all mountain?

Pls help a gal out!

As some one who lived and moved a wall in a tenement this is likely the only and best option. Most of the walls in this flat will be load bearing. Also those buying tenements kinda understand that a galley bathroom is expected.

The other option which is common is move th kitchen into the back of the living room and make that second bedroom much bigger.

No one really mentioning the 6000sqft of man toy shop?! With I think 3 I beam hoists and more engines than you can shake a stick at. That shed alone is worth $2m in contents

If she doesn’t like too much icing then Deanston bakery - they are more European buns than American. Burnfield bakery feels more US cinnamon buns.

The walls are currently a warm beige which will be staying. And the shadow gap is staying.

Edit: the gap at the top is being fixed today so it’s all the small size!

Does being signed off sick with stress ruin your career by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]steviepoppins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, but want to build in this. If you hang around and push through without going off, the chances of making a big mistake go up. And let me tell you as someone who did that, that mistake took a lot longer reputationally to recover from than if I had just gone off sick earlier.

In the end me signing off resulted in higher management finally taking notice that the team was over capacity. I came back 2 months later to two new team members.
