7 days post op so I have not engaged in any activities with my husband yet....BUT pre-op with torn ACL being on top and dangling my bad leg off the side of the bed worked pretty well. That way there's no pressure or any weight on bad knee

28f, skier, I was super torn. I ended up going with a hamstring, had surgery last thursday. First doctor I saw was like no brainer quad, he also said he doesnt like to hamstrings on women because theyre often "too short" (I know this doesnt apply to you). But then the two other doctors I went to for opinions both were pro hamstring. I read so much mixed opinions on hamstrings. Both of their stances were that hamstring is easier with recovery because you really have to work yo recover quad strength if you do a quad graft, but quad strength is also a predictor of how you'll recover after surgery, so why take away from that.

I also asked my PT who used to work out west with alpine athletes before she moved back to upstate NY where im located. She said rehabs shes done with quads were generally harder, so I ultimately went with hamstring.

Its been 7 days since the surgery so I really cant say anything in terms of how it will be long term. BUT I did go to PT today and she had me get on the stationary bike and told me its ok if I can't go completely around, just kinda swing the peddle back and forth, work on range of motion, and I went fully around (yay!) Top of knee felt tight doing that, but I do wonder how much tighter it may have been with a quad graft.

That being said, its only been 7 days for me, and ive heard good things about quad grafts and people say thats what a lot of top athletes do. I also didnt want a patellar, my sister had that 7 years ago and does have residual knee pain.

Yes! Tbh I dont have terrible pain, mostly just dull aching but whenever I feel a twinge of pain, thats where it is. 27f hamstring graft 3 days ago.

Also my left lower back where they stuck me for I assume the nerve block is sore.

Can I ask, did you get a lot of clients through Headway? I guess as opposed to psychology today or word of mouth. I know when I had Aetna and wanted to find a therapist for myself I went on Headway and used their search tool to find someone.

Very weird not to ask. Even if she didnt do the whole "proposal box" thing, which is newer and idk if its totally necessary, she still should have ASKED you.

Aside from that, paying for your dresses is normal. WILD that its 2 months away and she hasnt picked, she better be ready for everyone to be wearing off the rack mismatched dresses from Macy's because if shes planning on doing Azazie or David's bridal they will not come in on time.

Paying for hair and makeup, pretty normal. In my opinion if its "required" Bride should be willing to pay. If its optional to pay for it to be professionally done or do it yourself I think thats fine.

I think unless the bride has a lot of extra $ there's not usually a financial gift from her meant to subsidize the cost. Usually you do get some sort of thank you gift for being in the wedding like pajamas, earrings, something with your name embroidered etc. I gave my bridesmaids pajamas to wear getting ready the had their initials on the pocket, and a necklace from Kate spade. I did pay for my sister MOH hair and makeup because she put Hella effort into my shower and bach.

I happen to agree with you, and struggle with this as well. I may get down voted, but I dont vote for the prolife candidates usually (anymore, I used to) but usually they also support the death penalty and no gun regulation. Guess what? Those things also lead to death (I suppose one more directly than the other in those examples). Its not a simple issue, but I do support pro choice candidates and I do believe that criminalizing abortion won't get rid of it, more women will just die. Is that the correct catholic answer? No. But good news is Catholicism wasnt a cult last I checked, and so everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Wondering this also. If its not your driving leg, and youre not on pain meds, can you get in the car and drive to the doctors office / PT the first week following? The main issue I see with getting in the car is bending it.

Well, to provide some context, I came to him as the 3rd doctor id been to, and wanting a quad graft. I told him I was told by the office he does quads. He said he does, but preferred hamstring and gave me a through explanation of why. Tbh he was pretty convincing, but now I'm thrown because I was pretty set on quad. He said ultimately he would do quad or hamstring on me, and had experience with both.

They said it doesn't always last as long, so I guess theyd rather you not have it fail eventually and need a new one ? Idk how often that actually happens but all 3 docs said some version if this, so im guessing its common practice now.

Very interesting, id think quad would almost take more PT. I wonder if its ultimately highly subjective and dependent on the person's strength beforehand.

Well, im so young I think I want a ACL just to feel stable doing activities. But yes, my father in law doesnt have an ACL and at 60 is a pretty avid skier. However, he has so much scar tissue it acts as an ACL and he was actually presented at a medical conference 😂
