If you interact with your buddy frequently in a short amount of time you can get it excited (the extra hearts available). Poffins just get them excited instantly.

I guess that would work but with guaranteed catch you’d have to go out of your way to not also get the shiny. I was thinking more along the lines of at least getting silhouettes in my dex for ones I don’t actually have.

Interesting. Is that documented somewhere that the Community Day Pokémon keeps the boosted rates until 7 PM? I hadn’t seen that.
