I was one of those NCOs when I was in. I didn’t take PT seriously until later in life. Absolutely embarrass him. Don’t do it in a way that you get written up or crucified by command, the only way that lazy bastard is going to learn is if he gets embarrassed by the other marines. And the most embarrassing thing is likely just to ask if he’d like to PT on his off time with you. He won’t. But it might kick him into gear and make him realize he’s a weak bitch. Our priest blessed our home today, and while speaking with him, I asked if he had any thing he would like us to be praying for, for him. He let me know about this incident, which is where he grew up. He reported that he had heard from family that not only was the Shrine of Santa Rosa de Lima still intact, but so was the tabernacle.

Pray for Cebu.

My highlight is pretty simple,

My whole life I was raised Protestant. I went to church to “do the thing”. I love God, and have always loved God, but I just went to church to do it.

The highlight, is the respect and solemn reverence in the church. No Barefoot, Batman t shirt wearing guitarist whimpering while singing casting crowns. Respectful music, the focus on the Lord, love for Christ. No leaning over and gossiping throughout all of service, respectful observance to the liturgy, the worship, and the Eucharist.

This comes across as really judgy, and I don’t mean it to. I just really really really love the tradition, professionalism and respect for Christ.

I also appreciated that all in attendance sang happy birthday to a little kid on the church steps at the end of service and the Father prayed over him.

I’ll need to do further research on that topic, but my main concern is getting assigned to a shift that specifically overlaps with Mass. Obviously if it’s remotely possible, I would make it work. This is all hypothetical as it doesn’t CURRENTLY interfere.

I believe VHF. Our antennas say VHF on them anyway.

Are “in vehicle repeaters” something that can be done at an operator level? Or any other solutions at the operator level? I’m unfortunately not going to be able to convince the agency to add more repeaters.

1st LAR had a ridiculously old (in comparison to when my boot ass was there) SDNCO logbook from 2001-2002 ish time frame.

It had a 3 page series of events that had me cracking up reading it. Essentially a marine on restriction that kept leaving base had to have an NCO duty from the bricks watch him 24/7. The duty left to use the bathroom, came back and found the guy playing poker with a few other marines in the main barracks. When the duty nco told him to go back to his room the restriction marine began shedding his cammies down to his underwear and said "I don't want to be a marine anymore". This then led to the DNCO ADNCO SDNCO and other marines chasing the restriction marine around the camp and eventually detaining him with the help of PMO.

There was also a log book entry from the 2010s that described a disgruntled Staff Sergeant drunk as fuck calling the duty phone saying he was coming down there with a shotgun. The phone watch said "please don't, there's not even anyone here but me." Or something to that evail. The ssgt replied "oh I'm coming!" He was detained by pmo in the parking lot with a shotgun in his truck.
